Basketball season 20-21
Our new basketball coach— Berg— was interviewed a couple days ago and fans could send in questions. One was about the status of the season and scheduling in this Covid mess. He didn t want to say much but said the conference would be putting out something in the next week or two. Anyone have any idea what it will possibly be?

Yeah. Look for a non-traditional (unbalanced) conference schedule.

Bus trips = good.
Plane trips = bad.
Therefore maximize bus trips.

Some notes from what I understand

A: The limit on non D1 games will be lifted for this year.
B: Any limits on NET rankings in scheduling will be lifted
C: Regional and InState OOC play encouraged
D: unbalanced league schedule to reduce expensive flights

Sounds like a great season versus not playing. I am very much looking forward to live basketball.

Yeah, if you can't understand why this is happening, the rock you're sleeping under is too big. This is not only a good plan, it's the ONLY plan that makes sense.

I sort of agree it is what we have to do this year so I m ok with several non D1s this year. Let s see how many Bible colleges we can find for us to schedule— haha

Hey Georgia Southern fans-- you have two GREAT assistant coaches in Forrest and Shumate. They can recruit! I would say you have the strongest asst. coaching staff in the SBC. Both were here at WKU at one time and we were sorry to see them go. Either could be a head coach in the next few years. Shumate was the runner up for the NKU head job.

You will have no problem recruiting with that staff.

Sounds like an awful season.

Well option 2 is available. The Sun Belt cancels all fall sports, and half our athletic programs are forced to drop sports to stop from going under.

There's a good chance with this format that games can be played and a reasonable chance that reduced capacity crowds could actually watch the game in person in some places.

Lets be realistic about the situation. No school in the league got NCAA Tourney units this year. There's a good chance that most schools will not get large money game checks in football because of crowd limits at the P5 level. Most schools have already begun cut backs by either dropping sports or asking coaching staffs to take pay cuts.

Right now, we have to take what we can get.

I’m sorry, where did I say I wasn’t understanding something?

I said it sounds awful. Because it does. It sounds awful.
