Doctors Hit Gretchen Whitmer With Lawsuit Over Medical 'Time Bomb'
Quote:Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer is having a tough time with the American legal system, which does not take kindly to dictators. Earlier in the week, she appeared to be losing a very public fight with 77-year-old Karl Manke, who continues to defy her orders to shut down his barbershop even after losing his license to operate without a hearing. He’s still cutting hair and the sheriff won’t stop him. A judge also slapped Whitmer down when she tried to get a restraining order against Manke, ruling instead to hear him out in court. She’s not having a good week. I would have paid good money to have been in the room when she was served with a new lawsuit brought by doctors and one patient claiming her draconian lockdown orders have created a medical “time bomb” for patients who were awaiting elective surgeries and now cannot get them.

According to the Washington Times;

Quote:“Medical providers are on the brink of financial ruin, facing extreme revenue shortages caused by the Governor’s order forcing the postponement or cancellation of so-called ‘non-essential’ procedures,” said the suit filed by the Mackinac Center Legal Foundation and a private law firm, Miller Johnson. “Thousands of healthcare workers across Michigan have been furloughed or laid off.”

In addition to the economic devastation, Ms. Whitmer’s order has left hospitals and patients facing a dangerous backlog on procedures that will create a public health catastrophe of its own, said Dr. Randal Baker, a general surgeon and president of Grand Health Partners, a plaintiff based in Grand Rapids.

Quote:The lockdown has literally sentenced medically fragile people, who would have been fine if they had been able to seek medical care, to life-threatening or even deadly conditions. And there was no good reason not to allow them in the nearly empty hospitals in Michigan.

.........

The plaintiffs alleged that Whitmer tried to claim her order never meant to stop elective procedures, but Jordan Warnsholz, a physician’s assistant, told the Washington Times that her order specifically banned them. “She’s backtracking — she says her original order did not imply a complete ban of ‘non-emergency’ medical procedures and she’s right, it explicitly banned them,” he said.

RE: Doctors Hit Gretchen Whitmer With Lawsuit Over Medical 'Time Bomb'
These petty tyrants have a myopic tunnel vision view of things. What's changed for them? Well, likely next to nothing. I mean, she undoubtedly could still get an abortion if she wanted to.

The Dr.'s that take care of the torn ACL's, cataracts or a million other things and have multiple employees, locations, power bills, personal bills that total 10's thousands a month and have been forced shut? Where do they, and tens of millions of others all the way down the line go to get their lives and livelihoods back?

Unintended consequences. They exist in pretty much anything we do. The fact she's (and others) turning a blind eye to all of this is irresponsible and in fact very dangerous.

These people best get going on Phase 1, and make it a realllllly short phase. Playing with fire.

In regards to the Bolded, I can confirm the 'original order' did indeed ban anything 'elective'.

She's issued so many EO's since then (see below); I believe one tried to clarify a lot of the confusions, but I'm not sure if it clarified 'elective.' Indeed, there's been a lot of confusion.

I thought there might be a lot of executive orders during this for any governor. This site lists them all by state. I wish I could find a count by state.

Well, Michigan (or at least Detroit and Lansing did) voted for a Dominatrix, they shouldn’t be surprised when they get one.

RE: Doctors Hit Gretchen Whitmer With Lawsuit Over Medical 'Time Bomb'
I’d encourage anyone with the means to go to the doc/dentist/etc if needed. I ran out of contact lenses a couple weeks ago and had an outdated scrip. Today was the first day in two months that the eye doctors were opened up- amazingly stupid that they aren’t considered essential- but they’re being overly safe, even by Karen standards. One person in the waiting room at a time, everyone wearing masks and gloves, wiping down all surfaces a patient may touch- in view of the patient. I think a lot of the precautions are overblown, but in a medical setting they make more sense. And what I saw today makes me more confident that we’ll be able to open most stuff up more quickly than some of the ***hole governors would like.

The a$$holes that voted for her are the same people driving all the cases in Detroit and the surrounding area.
