The only effective part of that ensemble is the splash guard.

I think the idea is to protect the pt's and associates from me in case I'm sick, but asymptomatic and don't know it. Apparently that's a big concern

The only thing in that picture that is protecting anyone, including the tool wearing all the gear, is the splash shield.

Dude is working and not complaining or trying to game the system for Trump bucks. There are far bigger tools out there.

RE: all for not wearing a mask
There is no science that backs up having to wear a mask if you can social distance yourself from others. This is spread from "droplets" that come out of peoples mouths. Those "droplets"...DROP inside a radius of less that 6 feet. There has been NO instance that I have encountered that I can not keep my distance from others...SO..Fck wearing a mask. I have one..but I have not had ANY reason to put it on.

my wife tells me that in grocery stores, those without masks are socially shunned. most of the time, she relates to me, either a fellow customer or a store manager provides a mask, and peaceably convinces them to use it.

In an unshunnable. Like a monolith of granite your shuns fall powerless before me.

So shun away. The shunning tempers my resolve.

Oh and another frickin thing being a person raised in the country. How fricking needy and emotionally void of companionship must one be to have an animal that requires you pick up its turds and package them? City folk. No wonder you die at alarming rates from weird animal viruses

We are doomed as species.

with some folks you could be their life saving surgeon but if you disagree with them politically you're an idiot. The freedom to have your own ideas and opinions is one of the things that truly makes America great IMHO.

during this Pandemic I've gone from 40 to 44 hours a week and haven't missed a day...I feel like I owe it to the patients, esp our older patients, to make sure they can get their meds while giving them the sense of normalcy that comes with their their weekly trip to Sam's to pick up their meds and supplies for the week. I've found the elderly community tends to dislike change and relies on that consistency to feel like things are fine.

I'm not in healthcare so I'm not out there on the front lines risking my safety and health so wearing a mask seems like such a little thing for me to do a small part to try and keep the people I interact with healthy in case I am contagious and asymptomatic.

I wonder how people today would do if they were asked to make the sacrifices our grandparents did during WW2: ration books, no stockings, victory gardens, saving tin foil scraps, sending our sons off to fight and die...
when they won't even don a mask for the safety of others.

yep.

the greatest generation who were adults during WW2 fought in WW1 sent their sons to fight in lived WW2, survived the spanish flu pandemic, the stock market crash, great depression, the cold war, korean war, and vietman war, and the shooting death of a president...

and we complain about wearing masks infringing on our freedom.

Haven't seen much of that.

Have seen people complain about wearing masks because they aren't providing anywhere near the amount of protection that people think, thus giving people a false sense of security thus not maintaining social distancing while in public, and create additional pathways for transmission of the virus since people are constantly fidgeting with their mask.

The science behind protective equipment hasn't changed because of this virus. The idea that suddenly a mask you made out of an old tshirt and coffee filters is suddenly protecting you from a virus because "It has to catch some of the particles" is like thinking that a spaghetti strainer is effective protection from the rain because it stops some of the rain from getting on your head.

The only benefit of most masks is avoiding accidental touching of mouth and nose. Masks unless it's an N95 won't protect against airborne germs.

And even that is mitigated when the masks become saturated with moisture from your exhaled air.
