Usually when we bring in a 6'6"/6'7" HS recruit they're either a below the rim player or have to move to the 4. It seems like he has a valuable skillset in the era of small ball lineups.
Highlights/videos for all 3 Kent recruits offer hope for the future, HOWEVER, two areas of concern I believe for many of us are 1) can't seem to find many reliable scouting reports on strengths/weaknesses for these recruits and 2) based on 'known' recruiting options for all 3 players, KSU was probably 1-2 in terms of quality offers.
Re: No. 1 -- this is probably a big Covid-related issue and may be rectified as the HS season goes on. Re: No. 2 there's probably an element of 'Covid' to this as well, but it would be nice to see Kent recruit above its weight (based on offers) sometimes.
This is not a complaint, but an observation, because I do believe Kent does recruit above its weight quite often when it comes to JC recruiting. I also believe this is the level of HS player more likely to develop and stay for 3-4 years vs. jumping ship after one big season.
Thinking as I'm writing this, perhaps that is the key to a consistently winning program.
In the end, a 5-10 PG, 6-9 250-C and 6-6 SF, on paper, is a quality haul for any season, so congrats to Sendy, Sligh, Fouse and Sully for a job well done.
