Gary coming in during a normal year definitely helped; in addition to having more talent around him. Unfortunately though Tari's numbers don't include his most impactful stat, TO's. I'm not arguing that Tari's not a great talent. I just think his TO's are so high that he's got a lot of development to do.

To get playing time early in your career typically the first step is to not hurt the team by turning the ball over or blowing defensive assignments. Gary did that. Tari probably would have been playing under 10 minutes a game in the same situation.

I think most of Eason's deficiencies so far have been between the ears which is a good thing. I just think he is/has discovered the game is faster and everyone is bigger, stronger and as/or almost as athletic as he is. Not to mention more experienced. He just has to adapt to that which means you have always be on 100%. You can get by in high school without that focus/edge for an entire game because you're the big talented kid. That doesn't travel at D1.

Bolded, I think that's a good observation. To me, Gary Clark will be remembered as a great person and one of the finest Bearcats ever in the 1,000 point club. Tari's style of play is a bit different from Gary but if he continues to climb the steep learning curve for freshmen, he will be very special. I caught the video of a postgame interview with he and Brannen yesterday. Tari is well spoken. I hope we see him for three more years here. Maybe after a great Bearcat and pro career he'll have a future in the broadcast booth.
