I was told roughly around 80 to 120 total teams to participate each weekend will be staying there. There are 2 ballrooms that can hold 2 courts. Canyon is one of them when asked about which ballroom AAU will be using they said Canyon but could change, but being that that ballroom has has courts in it since before the 1st weekend of November and NMSU's courts were being installed I'd imagine they will be in the other ballroom? Lastly NMSU still doesn't have a game venue lined up but should fined something soon. I think like everyone they will land at GCU but possibly using Antelope Gym. Other issue would be stream/broadcast of aggievison would be easier at GCU imo than just about anywhere else. They have plenty of options for sure.
I also noticed the the Resort has large outdoor areas where a basketball court could be installed and be housed by a large tent structure; commonly used for outdoor weddings. Maybe the Resort will use its' outdoor areas in this manner to accommodate the AAU event?
You had a lot of questions and speculations about the ballroom and courts. Check out the end of this video for a glimpse of the 2 basketball courts set up for NMSU.
Based on the fact that the practice facility has two full sized basketball courts (end-to-end), it looks like the Aggies are using the Grand Ballroom which is 200-ft X 100-ft with 21-ft ceiling height. I am glad NMSU has a place to workout. I just hope the lower ceiling heights won't effect our player's shooting touch (depth perception) when they play in (adjust to) a true arena; with more expansive space. But I'm sure it won't be too big a concern.
I was worried about ceiling height as well and the first shot of the courts kinda shocked me. It lookes like the ceilings weren't very high. But when the camera pans out, you see a player shooting and he has ample ceiling height. I don't think McCants could make a half court shot in there, but you don't need to in practice.
Out of curiosity, is checked the internet for the optimal apex for a three point shot. Apparently, Stephen Curry shoots an NBA three with an average arc height of 16.23-feet. And, he is probably the best three point shooter in the game. So, I guess a 21-ft ceiling height is sufficient height to not obstruct a D1 player's normal shooting form. If a player is scrapping the ceiling with their respective shot, they are putting too much arc on their shot. As you have said, the lower ceiling height only effects a half court shot or possible a full court transition pass.

I remember alot of fuss about the same issue at the NBA bubble in Orlando...

Turns out that court in the video was not the NMSU ballroom and court. Jans, in his press conference yesterday, stated that there was a hiccup in the installation of the court and the court wouldn't be ready until today (11/19). The NMSU court is in the Sonoran Sky Ballroom. 18ft ceilings.

Even lower yet. A lot less margin for error. Nobody in practice will be shooting the ball much beyond an NBA three. I don't want our players ruining their shot release with a lower trajectory trying to make a shot much beyond the three point arc.

Why should they be practicing beyond the NBA three point line anyways? You are overthinking things.

For the purposes of conducting full team practices the Aggie team should be fine. But I do hate that the three point shooting conditions in the ballroom are noticeably different from that of an actual basketball arena. I'm sure Jans and the players will make it work.

Johnny needs to complete at least one half court shot this season so he has to practice it.

Good point. After all the hoops (no pun intended) the team had to jump through to get to AZ, I think they would be happy to practice in a tuff-shed with 5 foot ceilings and a flat soccer ball at this point. They are not gonna be complaining about 18 foot ceilings.
Jans said as much when he mentioned the court was not ready as promised. He said he was just grateful to be at the point they were at and would make things work.

That's sad, but where are you seeing it? I saw the WBB team got put on isolation but the UVU and Stanford websites still have the MBB game posted as of a few minutes ago.

Both GCU and NMSU was schedule to play Park University on Saturday and Tuesday but they had to suspend their basketball season another 14 days due to players testing positive for COVID. GCU and NMSU now playing Benedictine University instead.

Where did you hear about Park U? I saw it posted for GCU but didn’t see anywhere that NMSU was supposed to play them.

Today's NMSU/Arizona Christian game has been postponed until possibly Sunday. Arizona Christian has yet to received its Covid results to be cleared to play today.
