Exactly. As of the moment, 1.6% of the population - those in nursing homes and assisted living- have accounted for over 40% of the deaths. This is exactly like the flu except for those over 70 and especially those over 70 with comorbidities.

My guess is colleges have figured out it is cheaper to deliver their product on line.

There is absolutely no reason this decision could not have been made in late June or early July. They could have started (or considered starting) in late September and gone up to Christmas.

Things COULD look very different (better or worse) in eight weeks. The usual bureaucratic lack of flexibility. Universities CAN change directions more quickly than they claim-- but it is painful. Pre-planning, weekend work, third shift work, schedule changes, etc.. They are taking the early and easy way out.

I think that number will be well over 50% since NY is only listing 11.8% (almost has to be 100% false number) and every state around NY is in the range of 55 to 76%. I haven't checked in well over 10 days but then NY had 42% of all deaths in America

All of you whining about the facts of the virus really need to take a look at your own morals.

That makes zero sense, if you have something to say. Just say it, without riddles

My thoughts on the virus are based on the data, not any particular news channel. The only people affected by Covid more negatively than the typical flu are really old people and other folks with one severe underlying condition or multiple less severe underlying conditions.

On the other hand, children and infants seem to be at considerably less risk than with the regular flu.

The fact is we have more than enough data at this point, both from here and other countries. It's all there for viewing. Believing any narrative beyond the data is just being a sheep.

Fixed it for ya.

Pandemics just don't go away in a few months even if an effective vaccine is secured. Most take at least 24-48 months to run its original course. If this started in Sept/Oct in China then we are in month 6 or 7, and the US in month 3 or 4.

The last real pandemic that affected everyone was the Asian Flu in 1956-58 (Not counting HIV, which is still being faught). The precursor to the H1N1 virus. The Asian flu killed over 3 million people world wide and 88,000 in the US alone (Covid19 already at 59,000).

We are still months away from being even moderately safe within our own surroundings.

I don't have cable and certainly wouldn't watch a 24 hour news channel if I did but the data I've seen says you're wrong. As a middle aged man, I'm much more likely to end up in the hospital and/or die from Covid than the seasonal flu.

As far as children, they are less likely to show symptoms of the disease but now as we're seeing this inflammatory disease that is rare but serious being associated with covid it really shows how little we understand about the disease. So 1. saying we have ample data is naive and 2. with 5 deaths in children from this syndrome in NY alone in a short period of time and this syndrome being more prevalent in the strain effecting NY and Europe than China and the West Coast can you really say that the Flu that killed 125 children this year is more dangerous to children than covid at this point? No, I don't think you can.

Also, the facts also point to this being much more contagious than the flu. The total deaths in a few months have already outpaced our worst flu seasons that last over twice as long. Despite knowing the risk and taking prevention measures, we're still unable to keep it out of the nursing homes. Despite an unprecedented restriction of movement across the country and world it's taking a large toll. We have to begin to open up, we have to have our economy moving and that's going to increase the spread and the deaths. Which risks do we have to take and which do we not? I want college football to happen as much as anyone, I want to go to a concert and see live music. I don't think those things are in the cards for a while though. Just looking at the data available.

Honestly, it will be good for the fine folks of California to get a dose of the socialism they voted for. Lets see how long unemployment benefits and food banks stretches out for another 4 months. Here's the deal folks, the south and the SEC in particular WILL PLAY FOOTBALL this fall. So, all these Cali football commits will leave those schools go elsewhere. If the power 5 guys are above their scholarship limit, could be a happy hunting ground for G5 teams.

Here are the facts: ZERO children 0-9 years old have died from this virus worldwide. People aged 10-39 have a 0.2% chance of dying if infected. Massachusetts has been hit pretty hard by this thing with 5k deaths. Of those 5k deaths, 98.5% had a previous serious medical condition and the average age of death is 81 years old. This data is consistent across states, countries, you name it. The virus is VERY serious for people 65 and up and those with serious underlying health conditions. Its past time for a targeted quarantine for those in those demographics, not a nationwide lockdown.

Ah....well see there's the problem. Some people must just be using wrong data. I suggest you do more research. I mean you can just google "child dies of covid" and debunk your initial statement. Here's an interesting stat, 30% of people apparently believe that there's already a vaccine and the powers that be are withholding it from us. So a large chunk of what people say or write on the internet should be disregarded out of hand. Because they're idiots.

Wrong. Worldometers is the number 1 site for coronavirus numbers and is updated by the second. Knowing that you didn't click on either link, here's another one for you. Quote from the article below: "A 5-year-old boy in New York has become the first child in the United States to die from a condition called pediatric multisymptom inflammatory syndrome that is believed to be linked to COVID-19." A death "linked" to COVID is not the same as a COVID death. Lets all stop acting like these hospitals aren't categorizing COVID deaths for more money. All you have to do is look at the decreased deaths over the last 6 months in heart disease, cancer, diabetes, etc. Why are these numbers decreasing? if a person is admitted to a hospital with a heart attack and dies, then later through blood work they find out the patient had COVID, its immediately labeled a COVID death.

Some view this as an opportunity to push socialism further, the nation will pay for these states to run under shutdown, not just the states themselves.

So....case in point. All this can be disregarded folks. The poster here says "Worldometers is the number 1 site for coronavirus numbers and is updated by the second." That sounds like he shut me down but upon closer inspection the link he provided says clearly at the top "Last updated: April 16, 7:00 GMT". Not only that but the stats he's referencing are under a section labeled "Older Statistics" which come from the initial study done in China.
