How do we think Fauci's testimony will go today?
Quote:In eager anticipation of the Senate's virtual hearings with four top doctors from President Trump's coronavirus task force, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., urged Dr. Anthony Fauci to "let it rip."
Fauci, the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, is scheduled to testify for the first time before the Senate Health Committee on Tuesday about the way Trump has responded to the coronavirus pandemic.
FAUCI, OTHER HEALTH OFFICIALS TO TESTIFY BEORE SENATE PANEL VIA VIDEOCONFERENCE AMID CORONAVIRUS CONCERNS
"Until now, we've mostly heard from the members of the coronavirus task force through the distorted lens of the White House press conference where the president often prevents them from answering fully, interrupts their response, or even contradicts their fact-based evidence," Schumer said on Monday.
"This will be one of the first opportunities for Dr. Fauci to tell the American people the unvarnished truth without the president lurking over his shoulder. Dr. Fauci, let it rip," he added.
Quote:The New York Times reported late Monday that Fauci will warn that the country will risk "needless suffering and death" if it is opened up too quickly.

Seems like the Dems are trying to lead him into badmouthing the President publicly. Will Fauci no longer be the hero of the left if he does not?

Also re: the "needless suffering" quote, I am quickly growing tired of Fauci giving zero nod to the fact that millions are needlessly suffering through an economic crash as well.

there is balance, Tom. No that is not his specialty, it's also not economist's specialty to be experts on the virus, but I do expect them to work together and come up with a balance, and not just totally ignore the other half of the equation.

And that's the point. This whole thing has been driven by docs--or, more specifically, public health officials (Fauci hasn't seen patients regularly in decades). The economic impacts have been ignored or undervalued.
I'm just not sure it's worth putting 30 million people out of work, and creating misery in 30 million families, in order to save 0.07% of our population (that's the difference between Sweden's death rate and ours).
Fauci giving a medical opinion is fine, but Fauci needs to be one voice among many.

All this will be is the Senate looking for him to say something bad about Trump so that can be used in the election. We've seen this before.

There will be grandstanding and long speeches made after they ask one question. Same ****, different day.

I'm siding with Tom on this. The Economic side is not Fauci's concern in this. He was brought in to deal with the medical side of the equation

I agree; however, that's also precisely the reason people should not only listen to him. There are other factors in play that have to be considered as well.

how many second opinions does one need vs. the USD being THE MOST IMPORTANT FACTOR OF ALL....
regardless, people were going to die...
if the USD dies, take a wild guess how that plays out....
