Never thought he would quit on the program, oh well, build a new culture.

So, are we the only program to have four starters transfer in a week...or is this systematic of what is transpiring all over the college football landscape?

It really does feel like MAC football could be done for, I really get that overwhelming sense. It is a basketball conference now

NIU gave him a chance not Iowa. Pretty weak.

Exactly. He had no loyalty not just to NIU but to his teammates.

RE: Heflin Entering Transfer Portal (Brinkman & Perez as well potentially)
One of the advantages the NFL has is that they can have a star player for several years or even longer. They become a selling point. College football doesn't have that since most have only 4 years. If it's going to start being less than that, college football loses much of its attraction. Imagine Lynch playing in the Orange Bowl and then transferring to a different school for his senior year. This is the kind of thing that could kill college football attendance if other stuff doesn't.

The "one-and-done" hasn't killed the Power 5 basketball conferences and those guys are legit stars.

Heflin Entering Transfer Portal (Brinkman & Perez as well potentially)
Kind of surprised Heflin was able to transfer to Iowa. Usually, when released from scholarship I thought they were able to block a player from transferring to a school on the opposing schedule that next year. Assuming this could be different since he wasn’t released and is a grad transfer?

Not that it makes a huge difference anyways. Doesn’t sound like we have the horsepower to keep up with Iowa this season being so young we will be

Had the same exact thought, I remember a couple years back Nebraska blocked a transfer from coming here and Nebraska mistook us as UNI on their release forms.

Graduate transfers do not require a release and can go anywhere.

All 3 guys in the title of this thread were red-shirt Seniors.

Maybe we need to burn more red shirts early so there’s less chance of this?

That’s probably an idiotic statement on my part as there’s no crystal ball into the future. Just frustrating 03-banghead

Out of curiosity. What do you mean by "burn more red shirts early"?

Not sure what he meant there.

But, if teams keeping losing graduate transfers, I would fully expect some programs will start to eliminate, or at least minimize, red-shirting. Stay four years = play four years, instead of only playing three years. Unfortunately, it appears the one-time transfer rule will eventually pass and that will make the problem far worse.
