I think it's more just a follow the leader thing, but yes, having students on campus is all but essential to keeping the University solvent at this point. BGSU announced on Friday, so it was all but certain UT would do the same in short order.

Toledo will have no problem "social distancing" the fans for the weekday football games. Based on actual attendance, they could have done this for the last several years.

Title: UT announces plans to reopen campus for fall semester
Article: The University of Toledo announced Monday that the administration is working on plans

It is more of UT just following BGSU publicly to shows they're working on plans than anything to do with finances because as you stated the have no actual plan.

Huh? I'm not upset. You referring to the comments above your post or below?

You said "more" so I presumed you were saying they were playing follow the leader and.... I was just wondering what the "and" part was.

The comment above wasn't responding to you. It was commenting on the obfuscation by the article. UT did not and does not have a plan as the title stated. They plan to have a plan.

If they want more social distancing at football games just schedule more Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday NIGHT games broadcast on ESPN. To make sure the virus is completely gone start the season the third week in October.https://csnbbs.com/images/smilies/03-nutkick.gif

I think I'd rather just catch the damn thing and take my chances. This thing has been no good. First, it has killed all the pollution that was keeping us warm so here it is May and I'm freezing my ballz off. We all know we need the immunity before the Martians show up anyhow.

I say the university schedules the games and anyone that wants to volunteer to be on the front lines packs the stadium. Then they all quarantine to see who gets symptomatic. And they're out. The remaining get to go to the next game and cycle repeats. Herd immunity, in stages. hmmm, should schedule Marshall for the last game.

i know lots of this is sarcasm east, but one problem is there is no indication so far that surviving covid gives you immunity, or that the virus will not keep mutating (as it has been doing nearly every month) and be like the regular flu that changes and isn't stopped by past vaccines or previous immunity. the virus does create antibodies in survivors but how those impact your future health is still unknown.

Yes it is sarcasm but there will be a time when we as human beings just jump in. Can you imagine a future where the present situation is the norm? I cannot. We as we have always done will realize, no one lives forever but they die the day they decide to stop living.

Government has a choice: find an organized way for us to lemming or let chaos take hold. Smart move is the first. From indications I would say the time is sooner rather than later.

Campus Open in Fall
We are being driven by fear fueled by a Gates documentary and a media that loves to hate. And power hungry governors are ceasing control. We also have a chunk of our political establishment that likes to control our citizens

Sad to say this reaction to this virus is all about the election. God help us if we actually allow a mail in ballot. The fraud will be rampant

I'll don't know anything about a documentary and don't watch a lot of media so I'll have to take your word for it. I'm just another puppet on gilded strings.

I’ll just say this: if you’ve had COVID-19 and spent any time in a hospital as a result, you see this for what it is, and politics really has no place.

The US pandemic is highly regionalized in the Democratic NE part of the country(9 of the 50 States). The NE accounts for 48,996 of the 82,279 deaths. About 60%.
Coronavirus death totals(WorldometerUSA):
Vermont 53
Maine 65
New Hampshire 133
Rhode Island 444
Conn 3008
Penn 3841
Mass 5108
NJ 9341
NY 27003

Ridiculous to hold other parts of country hostage.
Of course you have other densely populated area in other states that need to treated differently from more rural areas.

I agree to some extent...the higher population density areas are getting hit the hardest obviously, so it would stand to reason that more spread out or less populated areas could open with smaller risk to exposure. With that being said, I don't we should be having 100,000 person gatherings in one building any time soon.

Not stating in anyway that the virus is not real condition. I just am of the opinion that our media reaction to it would be much different under a different political environment.

At least not at any Senior Citizen Centers or Stones Concerts.

Same thing if I get your drift.

There's ALWAYs politics. It's nice we can share viewpoints with each other here, being in different places, seeing different things. On other boards we'd have to dumb down. 04-cheers

Dr. Anthony Fauci said today to a senate committee, that expecting colleges to have students on campus as usual this fall is "a bit of a bridge too far".
