Question Official Top 50 attendance for 2020 baseball season
These are the Sun Belt teams that officially finished in the Top 50 nationally in average home attendance for baseball, despite the short season, per the NCAA:

7. Louisiana - 4,842
30. Coastal Carolina - 1,924
37. Troy - 1,533
46. Texas State - 1,210

Georgia Southern was just outside the Top 50, coming in at #53 with 1,042. ULM was also on the cusp at #56 with 1,004.

Where did these numbers come from and where is USA? By my count our attendance is over 1200 a game.

There were two games where, according to your box scores, there was no attendance recorded. So it looks like the NCAA took those games and included them in your average, which is normal. The final baseball record book for last season did that with Troy's attendance, where we had three games with no attendance recorded.

They were doubleheader games. For DH games you use one attendance figure for one game. We report those on the second game of the DH. It’s not like we had 0 fans at the first game of the doubleheaders.

that is correct. the the second game of the DH is counted as 0 fans for NCAA attendance. its a major flaw and a major complaint for our fan base with softball attendance. baseball don't have as many DH's so it goes unnoticed mostly.

I actually questioned them about this at one time and was told they count "dates" and not games. In essence, the only way they count individual games in a day is if you clear the stadium between games. Makes no sense, but that was what I was told. I still have the email exchange. Like Geaux stated, for our softball team some years it decreased our per game attendance figure by 400 or more per game.

Counting a “0” for the doubleheader games means almost 20% of our games had no fans and why we fell out of the top 50. It looks like we are at #58 but would jump into the top 50 (just over Texas State) if counted correctly. Sometimes the weather forces you into a double header though. Over the course of the full season it wouldn’t hurt as much, but with only 11 home games it’s definitely noticeable.

Kudos to a bunch of us. Seven teams with 1000+ in attendance is a major improvement over what we've done.

You think COVID didn't hurt the Cajuns? They also averaged 2,500 for softball.

Estimated lost revenue just in ticket sales at over 1 million dollars.

If our eventual new baseball stadium will help us bring in HALF of Lousiana's softball attendance, I'll consider it a massive success.
