Those will surely start having fans, limited at first, well before late August comes around. Some soccer leagues in Europe are starting back up, if they ever stopped to begin with.

Since the whole reaction to this virus has been a copycat scenario, I think as those league play with fans, our leagues will start allowing fans. Without some sort of disaster when it comes to this virus, we should be fine for full stadiums by the end of August. If you’re not comfortable being in a full stadium, then please, don’t attend, it really is that easy.

And if you attend a full stadium don't go to grocery stores without a mask.

When I need groceries, I will go to the grocery store.

Germany is restarting its Soccer leagues next weekend.
Without any spectators and players are isolated/quarantined in luxury hotels and getting tested every day + they only have 9 game weeks left until the end of the season (and they will squeeze it into 6 weeks) - strict rules like no celebrating after scoring goals, coaching staffs have to wear face masks, etc ... it’s just a desperate attempt to save the season somehow...

Promotion and Relegation pretty much require European leagues to finish. But that being said, we're going to see the NHL, NBA, MLB, and MLS all restart here at some point in the next couple months. They will all be watching how Germany does it.

FYI, a couple of officials here are indicating they see it completely doable for College Football to be played this fall, with spectators, but it won't be full crowds, people with vulnerable health conditions will be asked to stay home, and there will have to be a written plan as to how to get players and fans safely in and out without causing an outbreak.

RE: SBC presidents believe the fall sports season will be...
I try to read as much as I can about this whole mess, because I think it is fascinating, from the "we are all gonna die by summer" panic porn pushers to the "this whole thing is a fraud" head-in-sand crazies. But the calm, analytical numbers people are the most interesting.

And the more I read, the more I think (and certainly hope), while it is serious, it is also over-blown and will mostly burn out by mid-June, even though there will never be a vaccine. People will still get it, and still die, but then again, people die from bubonic plague (aka The Black Death) every year as well - and that is a 700 year old disease. I read today, for example, that many places (famously Sweden, but elsewhere too) have likely already achieved herd immunity and the numbers are going to start to drop like a rock.

Anyway, where I'm going with all this is that even if it does burn out in a month or two, it will take longer for the panic to subside- because hospitalizations and death are lagging stats. Even if the numbers flatten to a statistically insignificant figure (admittedly a rather cold way to talk about death) by summer, so many places are going to be slow to open (waiting for those lagging stats to improve) and July will be too late for things like sports to be back to normal by September, even though it very well may to perfectly safe to do so.

Sorry, for the rambling thoughts.

A big concern for getting sports re-started is which camp those in power reside in. Many have to be in the "beholden to the lagging stats" crowd because if they're wrong, fans get sick, and can prove where they got it then they're open to major litigation. This is not an "I'm a fan and I accept the risk if I get sick at a football game" world. It's "I got sick at your venue, it was your responsibility to keep the doors shut until it was 100% safe....pay me damages".

Mark Emmert has said he is leaving the return to sports up to the states and universities. Cal St University has canceled on campus classes for fall already. If we have sports this fall, it may not include quit a few schools, which could drastically change the landscape of conferences and schedules.

Exclamation RE: SBC presidents believe the fall sports season will be...
Florida Institute of Technology, a DII school, has ended their football program over the COVID-19. They have played since 2013, making the playoffs in 16 and 18. They were in the Gulf South Conference along with Valdosta State and West Florida(current NC). This leaves the state of Florida with only 1 DII football playing school.

It’s going to be real interesting over the next couple months to see what other schools lose what sports.

All 12 Sun Belt schools will officially be open for on-campus operations in the fall as of now.

It's going to be hard to justify forgoing fall sports with students back on campus, and especially if other conferences like the SEC have already said they will have sports.

Pretty funny...

Suggestion that Sun Belt move football games to midnight to fill the void (on ESPN and for gambling) likely to be created by no PAC12 games this fall.

The announcement that all schools in the SBC will be open in the fall is a huge step toward having fall sports.

I can tell you that as of right now, our schools are planning to have football on September 5th. That may get adjusted but that's the thought today.
