When Trump took office, the ratio was 18 Dem.-appointees, 7 GOP-appointees, and 4 vacancies. Now it’s 16D, 13R.

IMO...This is what terrifies the Democrat leadership. Another term will be devastating to their agenda to reshape America through the judiciary.

By law, there are 9 positions on the US Supreme Court and 179 on the various Appellate courts. Sure, the District-level judges are important, too, but it’s the Supremes and the Circuits that really set the judicial agenda. So far, Trump has appointed 2 x 9 and 51 x 179 (soon to be 53 x 179).

There are currently 2 Supreme-justices and 22 Circuit-judges who are both “active” (not on senior status) and age 75 or older. Whoever wins the Presidential election later this year will almost definitely get to choose the replacements for those judges.
