There's just not a good way for new students to easily find their way to that building if you have never been to South before. I get they wanted to be part of the central part of campus, but hard for people who are not admitted there. Not a convenient way to get wheelchair bound people up that ramp, I have pushed someone up and down that ramp before. The building is too small for the departments in there, they had to remove a breakroom to add another department in there. Needs a 3rd story.

Needs more footprint on the main campus that is pretty landlocked.

For example...At Appalachian a common design theme of academic buildings are green roofs (pictured below). I've been watching App's new east-side dorms go up and wondered what it might look like if several/many of the buildings had "golden domes" or golden roofs ala Notre Dame's Main Building.

I like the green roofs as it blends in with the surrounding tree line. Also this was only done more recently (recent being one of the bonds that passed since 2000 or so). Before that every building looked so much different. I don't need a cookie-cutter look like UNC-W has, but having some cohesive architecture is not bad either.

I know this is going to be sacrilegious but I don't think App has a wonderfully beautiful campus. It is nice but not over-the-top beautiful. What was done with the old baseball field near Holmes has done wonders and the new dorm buildings that break up Stadium Lot's asphalt wasteland will go a long way as well but the beauty of the campus to me was the views from campus to the surrounding area. The view of campus from Howard Know is very nice, but just standing on campus looking around Sanford Mall never has been overwhelming to me. Trivette Hall and the Duck Pond is nice as well but being right beside a 4 lane road it is not as peaceful as it could be. I also have personal issues with Duck Pond I need not go into right here.

Part of all of this is due, I assume, to the confined space App has to work with, and part is the winter damage to the concrete steps and all the concrete sidewalks. Take out the concrete and put in brick and the look would improve greatly. That may not work cost-wise and in a wheelchair all those bumps with bricks could be infuriating.

If I am asked to turn in my sheepskin then I understand.

They need to quit taking the big alligators out of the on campus swamp by the student union......not really. But I wish they would have built Cajun Field were the old McNapsy stadium was.

Oh, I just thought of a needed change of the UTA campus - Cooper Street. It's like a highway right through the center of campus. It needs to be raised, lowered or re-routed, so that this campus is not divided into East and West halves.

Cooper Street, Arlington

They do non-stop construction up and down Cooper to the north and south of campus it seems.

Raising, lowering, or re-routing it would be extremely difficult (re-routing maybe impossible). That's a busy ass road.

True, and expensive as well. But each time a pedestrian gets mowed down, the question gets raised again. Eventually it will happen.
