When people asked about ticket location, sometimes they would say "press box side or hospital side?"

BUT sometimes they would also ask "home side or visitor side"--only referring to which team was on that sideline.
It means nothing else. Some people are forever going to refer to the non press box side as the visitor side...and its okay.

IF I end up getting seats on the non press box side (I haven't decided yet) and someone asks if my seats are on the home or visitor side...I'll reply visitor side and move along

That makes sense.. that was a major argument regarding the stadium design. Struck a nerve. My apologies

Saw yesterday that the student section will be in the endzone and wrap around the corner to the non-press box. Also, the band will be in the corner on the non press box side.

I think both of these things (particularly the band) will help to counter any “visitor side” misconceptions...hard to call it a visitor side when the home teams band is over there

This whole subject is just stupid. It’s nothing more than a ridiculous argument used to attack people instead of discussing the actual reason for the disagreement. What’s even more idiotic is that the stadium design was approved and is being built so the original issue is NO LONGER RELEVANT!

Anybody know what structures are being built on the southwest corner of the plot? The concrete structure doesn’t really look like the ticket turnstile as seen on the drawings. I also can’t figure out what the temporary red steel structure is for.

Ah...I didn’t notice until I zoomed in. I’m still not sure what the adjacent temporary structure is for.

Ticket booth. Note the window slots.

The red steel adjacent is scaffolding.

If only former mayor Larry Langford would have seen this.
I don't think this city would have needed a multipurpose dome stadium.

We played in Legion Field for so long to be debating what side the home and visitor side is for the new stadium. 03-banghead Just saying.

I always sat on the "visitor" side for Blazers games, less people and more leg room 03-drunk

There is no "visitor's side". There is a "visitor's corner" and it is small. LOVE IT!!!

Since I was invited -- what is being built is suitable for the needs of UAB football for several decades into this century. What THE CITY needs may not be identical to what UAB football needs. My opinion remains that the CITY of B'ham needed the larger MPF to compete for year round convention business which the Protective Stadium does not and can never serve. The votes are in and the MPF was not chosen, so the city will have what was chosen for the next several decades. It may turn out that such diseases as COVID and its mutants will wipe out the big convention business as we knew it anyways. I hope the city will be comfortable with their decision well past 2050.

As we saw this past several weeks, B'ham fans can continue to watch on TV as major sports contests are played out at venues similar to what was voted down here. As far as I am aware, no games at such enclosed venues were cancelled due to COVID 19.

Don't know when it happened but just noticed that the Tower Crane has left the building.

I'm sure there's lots of interior work to be done but it looks like we are in the home stretch of structure completion. Cool to think that in all likelihood at this point somewhere at some grass farm our field is already being grown.

I'm pretty sure the field is artificial turf...

With artificial turf, there is a handful of choices but for real grass, only "prescription turf" is currently used. That is real grass grown over a concrete base covered by gravel and sand to facilitate drainage. I recall that at one time, Legion Field used this for the Olympic soccer matches in 1996. later it was replaced by artificial turf again.

If by that you mean "somewhere at some plastic factory our field is already being manufactured", then yes, you're probably right.
