They regulate billboards. They regulate signage...both on the interstates and for private businesses within view. IF the top of the north end of the stadium is in view of the interstate and/or state highway, they can regulate it. Attalla can correct me since he's done this sort of work before, but I imagine the engineers had to clear the lighting at the stadium if it is within a certain distance of a public road. Especially a major highway, an interstate, and the junction between the two. If we wanted to put 2 huge spotlights on top of the stadium pointed at the road I have a feeling that idea would get quashed by ALDOT before or immediately after they went up.

They forced a change of some kind right after the digital billboard went up on I-65N at Oxmoor. No idea at this point what year that went up and what the issue was. Old age is unforgiving.

As for the confederate flag, I guess there's a difference between can regulate and how much effort they put into actually regulating it.

I'd imagine it's the difference between potentially dangerous and potentially offensive.

That flag is giant and distracting. It's both offensive AND dangerous.

Approaching midnight and the southeast corner is lit for a likely big pour starting in a few hours.

7 of the 8 light stands are up. Went by there this weekend and seeing the light stands and press box really has changed the feel of the site. A month ago it was a dirt lot with some concrete structures. Now its a stadium!

Those 3-5 am pours. (Start time) Gotta love it. ;-)

Most enjoyable ones were in the beach. Hitting that morning coffee listening to the surf. Up here they suck.

They poured from about 2:30 - 7:30 this morning on the Southeast corner. A little more still to go in this segment. I drove by around 8.

Our first crowd is in the stands right now. Hundreds of workers are probably being told their new timeline and pay rate to get it done for the first game next year.

RE: Stadiums first big concrete pour is happening now
Just under 5 months ago was the first big concrete pour. Today's pour is one of the last big pours for the stadium structure. Lots of interior work going on which will take awhile and be hard to see the progress. Looking forward to the last big structure items of east side upper deck and jumbotron.

Today, they are pouring the second level in the southwest corner of the stadium, which will be part of the walk-around from the raised seating toward the pressbox, etc tower.

Also today, the upper northwest corner is getting its precast seating rows dropped in and the Jumbotron is beginning to rise! The green dot has not been ceremoniously paraded to downtown yet.

It won’t be complete without the green dots.

Is it my horrible memory or did someone say the jumbotron will also display on the back side facing Uptown? I don’t think we’re remotely near losing ticket sales for people watching from outside the stadium. I actually think we have more to gain by letting people check out the product they may never have been interested in...

Looks like more concrete was poured overnight on the field half of the 4th floor of the Press Box/Suites structure.

Last pour of the western side concourse is happening now.

The stadium's official capacity has been released as 47,100 within the World Games opening and closing and closing ceremonies announcement.
