Looks like pour #3 will take place Thursday morning.

Plenty of seating rows and the east upper deck supports added in the last two weeks.

Another big concrete pour on the SW corner of the stadium started last night at around 2 am,,, just finishing up as we speak this morning.

I’m starting to think I was wrong six months ago when I told you there was no way the stadium would be ready for the 2021 season

They did another cement pour on the southeast section of the stadium starting around 2:30 this morning. Finally got it covered with tarp at 2PM. Moving right along, folks!

Would be nice but I’ll be surprised. I’d like to see what their internal schedule says the program manager is using. This is the one you won’t see. It will be more aggressive.

Jon Paepke reporting from the BJCC board meeting that Brasfield & Gorrie has "agreed to add 1,200 seats to the north end zone at no additional cost to the BJCC."

Also said concrete for the lower bowl is 45% poured and "still on schedule to open by October 2021". Hopefully they can close that one month gap to open in time for the first game. It would be weird to switch stadiums during the season.

I’m not sure we would switch mid-season. It would be anti-climatic. Unless it was for the CUSA Champ Game. But, then again, it wouldn’t make much sense playing at LF when Protective is fully ready. I suppose the extra seats are to offset penalties for missing deadline?

They may be as simple as increased seating capacity for concerts and events. I would expect the stage to be on the south end with the skyline behind it.

I'm afraid that they'll be going into the grassy space, though.

I don't think it would really matter when UAB moves to Protective Stadium. It's going to be an exciting event for the city and not just for UAB. But if the 1st game in the new stadium is Southern Miss with the West title on the line do you really think that will be anti-climatic?

I fully believe Protective will be ready by the season opener though so no worries on my part. And if not still no worries from me.

The addition of the 1,200 seats should bring the seated capacity to 40,782. The SRO Fan Deck in the South End Zone should be a popular area for students and fans to congregate while enjoying food and liquid refreshment. Total capacity remains at approximately 45,000 when including SRO areas.

There was another big slab pour this morning on the west side of the stadium under the press box area. Maybe a little north of the press box area.

Someone on the BOT with connections, getting the additional seating added, in hopes we can't fill it. Then, they'll only shoot photos and video in that direction, making it look like no one is there.
