Football Tickets & ODAF Donations
Get ready for important news coming on ODU Football Season Tickets & ODAF Donations. From what I am hearing they are going to extend the deadlines for both "indefinitely". I think they are hoping that as time passes and there is more understanding of the COVID-19 numbers and changes taking place - folks will be able to make more informed decisions on what they want to do. You never know with this rumor stuff if you have it right - so if I am off this time no coughing on sneezing on me for revenge. Stay safe and stay well Monarch fans.

That sounds right. It's gotta be a tough time to work in the ticketing department; coming off a 1-win season in the middle a global shutdown.

Smart move. Plus, we don't know what the season will be. If we lose the WF and UVA games, the value of those tickets drops tremendously. I hate to think how hard it will be to sell tickets if its only for the CUSA portion of the season. This is really a nightmare for our football program. A new stadium, best schedule ever, new coach... that should have helped some, even coming off our worst season ever.

RE: Football Tickets & ODAF Donations
ODU sent out an email a few weeks back that they have extended the deadline and were considering different price points for season tickets. My wife received the email since she hadn't renewed her tickets.

April 9 was when they sent the email.

That email was an extension to June 1st. They sent another email today saying that date is no longer the deadline.

One of the biggest changes in this update is the refund policy. If any games are cancelled, you will have the option to have it refunded or credited to future tickets.

Having already bought tickets for next season, this is a good thing to see.

That is good. I was wondering how that might play out.

Now I gotta see if we are getting our money back from bush gardens season tickets.

Looks like ODU put a very good policy in place and the reduced prices should help lure people back to the stadium. Good moves by ODU here. Now lets see the same type of good moves by the team itself. 02-13-banana

This move is not a surprise. Tough economic times are ahead: layoffs, furloughs, pay cuts. ODU knows what is on the horizon.

I haven't read it yet. But does the family plan relegate you to a specific section?

They haven't released any details yet. The article just notes that they'll be offering one. But I would imagine so, since that is what they normally do.

How does this affect the seat selection? If you purchased a seat license, you were guaranteed the seat in future years as long as you renewed by the deadline. With no deadline, are folks seats up for grabs now if they didn't renew the SL?
I already renewed my seats, but now I'm wondering if I could have gotten better seats by taking someone else's spot who hasn't renewed.

The seats are being held for the people who haven't renewed yet until this "indefinite" deadline. I think they'll set the new deadline as July 1.

Also, I wanted to change sections this year to get on the lower level. So I asked ODAF about that and they told me to renew and they would let me pick new seats once they're released. Just let them know you're interested in doing that and they'll definitely work with you.

RE: Football Tickets & ODAF Donations
Has anyone heard any chatter on season ticket changes or renewal deadlines for the 2021 season? ODAF seems to have gone cold on me, no emails, calls, or snail mail in months. In normal years our renewal deadlines were around May 1st. Read a titbit from HM a few weeks back that fans will be surprised with a new price structure for ODU football.

At one point I was told the plan is to make a significant drop on prices on a lot of the seats to bring folks for this Fall. Also maybe a price break of some kind (definitely no increase) on the choice seats. Now to be fair I heard this a couple of months ago so it could have changed but given the thought behind it I hope not. ODU really wants to bring the fans back in numbers and get the juice going again and then go from there. Maybe other folks have gotten a more recent feel on this?

RE: Football Tickets & ODAF Donations
The first ten years of football, ODAF didn't need to spend a dime on marketing or sales. The problem, they don't know or learn how to sell or market tickets. We had so much colleterial, with the waiting list for tickets and then the new stadium. Well that has been spent. Anyone in sports marketing will tell you, 'Winning sells tickets', anything else is a short term promotion.

RE: Football Tickets & ODAF Donations
I see this as an opportunity. ODU has always been pretty terrible at reaching out to the community to broaden the fanbase. When the stadium was sold out every game, there was no inventory to really make that effort. Now the inventory is there, and the need to promote the program is there. Those things can't hurt and as long as winning is on the horizon, they could find themselves in a better position over the long haul if they learn something from having to start over and build/market the brand.
