The starter in 2018 (Curt Casteel) was okay but nothing special. A two or three star recruit depending on whatever site you are looking at.

The last of the Carey recruits.

Their starter had offers to Boston College, Syracuse and Cincinnati as well as Harvard. Not saying the guy was great but now we are criticizing a recruit for not just walking into the best football school in Florida and unseating the starting QB?

If you’re a low 3 star recruit like Valenti, or even Hare, and you transfer your senior year in HS, there are probably a hundred+ QBs you’re going to end up sitting behind.

Seems like a bad idea to transfer then!

NIU has a real issue with QB depth for the next few years. Valenti will likely end up like 95% of the players who transfer from NIU and do absolutely nothing though. Both things can be true.

RE: Valenti in transfer portal
What is our goal at QB? Do we want a pocket passer? Or a dual-threat? Are we going to just play one QB or sub in the 2nd string guy occasionally like they did with Lynch when Harnish was here? That might keep the 2nd stringer a little more interested in sticking around. Just thinking aloud (I know that's scary).

He most likely ends up like Santa at best. I thought of him as our back up with the hope he was maybe that lucky find. Some of the allure of our recruits can be there isn’t much to go on. That’s how they got overlooked by big programs.

Just puts more pressure on Fletcher to be the man and to stay healthy.

Come on up! He plays like his brother, only in a kid's body. He could hit the gym up.

Valenti leaving probably has to do with kid from Nebraska coming here.

The Nebraska kid is a better player than Valenti is...I think we got better at backup QB....maybe he unseats Bowers?

Maybe this is a good time for there not to be a next few years after all.

Not a smart move for someone that wants to find playing time.

Jiya had to look elsewhere as Florida techs football team folded and got a PWO at Akron

So far it seems like they are not hot commodities
