There’s a lot of time between now and then, but our schedule is looking very “Sunbelt-ish” beyond 2025. I guess all we can do is hope those games remain OOC affairs.

Sun Belt teams are logical to play out of conference. They are easy road trips, chance at decent crowds.

True. Evidently, we could not make any, or had no desire, for H&H with any of the AAC teams.

A lot of the AAC teams don't want to play C-USA teams. There are not many of those on the books.

With the new playoff format the AAC will do what the P5 teams do - protect themseleves. They will schedule weak FBS teams so as to not lessen themselves as they go for the G5 playoff slot. Its gonna be real tough for top G5 teams outside of the AAC to get games with the AAC or many P5 teams for that matter. Previously-scheduled games can/will be bought out if a team feels threatened. Sorry about the rant on this forum...

AAC teams don't want to hang with the kids from the old neighborhood. It's really as simple as that. Unless there is a strategic self-interest (i.e., UCF wants to recruit South Florida so they agreed to play FAU), you won't see many of the old C-USA teams play current C-USA teams.

Umm, why would we want to have contracts for AAC non con games if we are trying to get into that league?

This is a good point. We have no AAC teams scheduled after Tulane this season. I hope that is indicative of our future conference...

RE: Future Football Schedules - Updated 01/18/22
...after 2025, there are two slots per season open, with no 'big money' games... wondering if, by then being 'established' in the AAC, instead of one BIG game, why not two 'medium' games, with some Home & Homes happening?

For example, the past season we played eventual national champion UGA, with two 'roughly 'like'' teams (Tulane, Liberty (well, for 2021, anyway)) and one 'lesser' team in JSU...

Instead, for 2026, already have Louisiana and LA-Monroe, which SHOULD be a bit 'lesser' opponents than the typical AAC team (who knows by then) - BUT, instead of a 'body bag' game (lots of $$$, but a hit on the schedule), schedule a few 'mid-range' P5 (sorry, P6! 02-13-banana ) like, oh, Arizona and Virginia... work out a H&H with each, and stagger them to get two OOC home games...

yeah, WAY easier said than done, but... Ol' Watson SOMEhow could get not only a good slate of opponents (yeah, I know a lot of it was 'self-preservation' to get enough $$$$ to survive), but he also even got a few to visit us... of course, Zona and UVA wouldn't be a big travel fan base in theory, but, just examples.

Anyway, with us moving up a notch, it would seem like our OOC needs to be a bit 'notched up' as well... now, not sure where you would fit in a game with AAMU or ASU, and I DO like the idea of them as a home game with nice crowds... so - just riffin' here... 03-phew

I don’t disagree with your desire for the “medium” games instead of the body bag games. Doing that would definitely legitimize out program, i would think. I’m always curious how much we actually get from the body bag games after all the expenses of going there. I’m sure it’s still a nice chunk of change, just not as much as we see when the game is announced.

It was extremely difficult to get home and homes to Legion Field to be televised on Stadium or, at best, CBS Sports Network.

Being in the AAC with new stadium and ESPN should help.
