RE: Gaber Leaving UT
salary reductions are for administrators, 1-3 furlough days are for PSA, and today CWA (unionized) staff are being informed as to up to 29 calendar days (4 work weeks) of temporary layoffs, many will be laid off for four weeks between May 11 and June 30th, all of these spending reductions are for May-June only, to end of FY20 on June 30th. In next few weeks additional plans for budget cuts including more of these salary reductions for FY 21 (July 1 2020 to June 30 2021) will be announced. These cuts cover every UT staff position except essential medical workers at UTMC.

Gaber pulls a Matt Campbell and Pisanelli makes sure the university is well on the path of same-ol, same-ol. Yikes. Why do you need to hire a retired Universirty President with a "rolodex" of retired University Presidents? Never heard of Google? They've barely started and this is already so in-bled, it's hard to have hope.

Why waste time hiring a search firm to hire an interim president? Appoint a current dean who knows UT and get on with hiring a permanent president. BTW, the BOT's attempts at being transparent are a complete failure. Who are these people?

Yep...makes no sense...there are plenty of candidates who are able to do the job at UT. The administration has made a habit of paying outside firms exorbitant fees to do next to nothing productive in the past though, so this should come as no surprised. Ruffalo Noel Levitz was hired to consult enrollment and GUARANTEED increased enrollment...3 years and $600,000 later, all we got was a ****** interim VP of Enrollment who was stuck in 1997.

and picking a search firm of a UT grad/very recent former OhioU Pres? And conincidently writes a May 7th article on "Conducting a Successful Leadership Search in a Pandemic," which says exactly, nothing. Does that pass smell test? And the Blade makes no challenges to the process.

I'm not seeing hope in the process so far.

Yeah...especially when you consider the issues he had near the end of his tenure at OU as well. Oh well, guess we should just expect this at this point...that's what you get when you have a room full of executive lawyers.

And just watch him get the job...... watch

How do the dozens of CWA staff just laid off for four weeks feel about BOT wasting $30,000???

RE: Gaber Leaving UT
Conflict of interest would (should) remove him from getting any position in which he had a first or even a second hand in obtaining candidates. I wouldn't expect duplicity in that regard. But by selecting his "rolodex," BOT has clearly narrowed the lane for the search beyond interim. I very much doubt they do not know who is on that "roledex." (Did she really say that? smh). It does smell of fix, whether it is or not.
