The re-scheduling of the Marshall and UAB games has been the topic of discussions among the schools and C-USA for weeks...the schools are solidifying the dates, times and locations...Rice has been active in trying to re-schedule these games for a variety of reasons, not the least of which is the minimum number of games to be played to qualify for the conference championship game, etc.

Yes, but up until today, the CUSA championship game was on December 4th. All CUSA teams now have two open weeks with which to schedule make-up games.

Rice and UH both have open dates on 12/5. UAB may be interested in playing

Really? I am not sure if the advantage in the first games (Middle Tennessee, at Southern Miss) goes to Rice (because we have a lot of data on our opponents from the games they have played) or to our opponents (because they have played those games). And we have many strange match-ups this year with coaches fighting for their jobs (MTSU, USM interim coach, North Texas, UTEP).

I have always heard the biggest improvement in a team was between the first and second game.

So the other teams have had their shakedown cruises, and we are fresh out of the dry dock. Plus, they have had considerably more practice time than us, especially for the O-line.

I see some plusses for both sides.
