Well, in 2017, 9 rice fans were crushed to death. In 2018, it was 7. In 2019, it was 5. Clearly we are flattening the curve. HRS should be boulder free by May, 2022.

Northwestern University is probably the school that is situated in the hardest hit county in the country among counties with FCS programs (Cook County - Illinois reported over 4000 new cases today and I'll assume most of those were in the Chicago area?). It will be interesting to see how major conferences adjust to football if say everyone in the Big 10 but Northwestern and Rutgers can play (or the Pac 12 perhaps with the California schools in limbo).

My guess is most of the other FCS schools will be fine (maybe UConn and UMass would be two others in question).

I believe it is the Western-most parts of the state-- by the Iowa and Mizzou borders-- that have been spiking of late.

I don’t think the goal posts have moved in this regard (I think they’ve moved in regards to getting to significantly lower case loads, to no case loads, prior to reopening). And I say that because recommended reopening guidelines pushed out from federal agencies (including the WH) have talked about using X-days of declining numbers as a metric for reopening.

Has anyone seen conferences/schools talk about they’ll handle a second peak, come the fall, should it happen?

Totally agree. The fact that the peak has been pushed out has given Pritzker an excuse for extending the lockdown. His 5-phase re-open plan announced last week is ridiculous, and goes way beyond the CDC guidelines. I'm guessing/hoping he's going to be pressured to modify it a bit by June 1, and start easing restrictions.

There's a lot of we-don't-knows in this conversation with each FBS league commissioner. They're clearly thinking about a lot of contingencies for games (like unequal schedules, a game being missed due to a player on one of the teams testing positive before the game, etc.), and there are no easy answers yet.
