Now I get the "might as well be playing in the sunbelt" joke. but Clark said he wants to play a manageable schedule and not body-bag games. Peers or games with teams on our level or winnable games. Dont know how hard it is to get lower level power conferences to do a home and home.

I think it's pretty tough to get home and home from someone these days unless they want access to your state for recruiting. i.e. VT playing games at ODU since that's the fertile area of Virginia. You can definitely get solid names to come to you though, like how Boise went to Troy last year. I think you just have to have a consistent name for a few years. This future schedule tells me that UAB is getting some of that name recognition.

I really like that Ingram is scheduling games against what should be some of the best teams in that conference. Maybe they'll add some against App State & Ark State soon. Just keep away from playing the bottom feeders of Akron, NMSU, and Coastal (even though that didn't turn out well) since UAB plays enough of those games in-conference.

Navy was on our 2015 schedule before the BoT & Watts disemboweled us. That was also before they joined the AAC in football. Now, Navy only have one OOC game/season to play with because they have to play USMA and USAFA every year, along with what is essentially a lifetime contract with Notre Dame that funds a huge chunk of their athletic program. They never play their home games against Notre Dame in Annapolis, instead selling the hosting of that game to promoters. This coming season it's scheduled to be played in Ireland again.

Notre Dame plays USC and Navy every year because they were some of the only schools willing to play them during the Michigan led boycott. The same reason Notre Dame plays in the ACC instead of the Big 10.

Good info. Ugh, I had forgotten about the pain of cancelling our Navy game. Luckily got to see us at West Point, quite a great day.

It is a conglomerate of P5 "wannabes" (contenders and pretenders) who formed a league in an act of desperate self preservation when a group of schools exited taking the conference name (BIG EAST) with them. As it happened, it was a bad time for UAB which was at that time suffering its own "Trail of Tears" or it may have been one of those chosen. Right now the AAC is waiting to see if the BIG 12 is going to add teams from their conference so they will know how many slots they have to fill.

UAB can wait until the AAC invites us, content itself with C-USA long term or consider forming another conference of like schools -- major urban universities in the major metro areas of America which might rival the AAC. Don't dream too small.

Georgia State as a future rival if this happens.COGS

Really slap them down that they are not worth playing because we moved up to AAC or another higher conference affiliation.

I hope we wouldn’t do this. With all the struggles we’ve had over the years scheduling I’d hope we weren’t too good for somebody we agreed to a game with.

I wound if it was a choice between a big time opponent and them and would not blink an eye. We owe those bastards nothing.

If we're gonna play on the road vs P5 a couple times a season, can't we get an occasional home game out of it?:

Mizzou and FAU sign 2 for 1

**** Troy. Disappointed we signed that series. I'd rather play USA every year, in football and hoops.

The return game being the last game in the series would concern me there. Hopefully Missouri actually plays that game. I’d be all for signing a 2 for 1 or even 3 for 1 as long as we made sure the opponent would show up in Birmingham.

How are 2 for 1 and 3 for 1 games generally structured financially? Since you are basically giving up one or more potential home games or a big payday game at a Georgia or Tennessee, do these type agreements make money for the program?

We have already had Mississippi State back out of a home game for us. Bought it out.

There's an easy fix for the virus. Pull your lungs out, turn them inside out and spray them with Lysol, then let them dry in the sunlight. No more virus in minutes.

Only problem is finding any Lysol.

The easiest fix was to have gotten it on the first wave in January when no one noticed it wasn't a flu and the world moved along as usual. Makes this hysteria even more "enjoyable".

For those of you who can't read between the lines. The last part is in blue and is sarcastic (mostly).
