Exclamation Current/Former Teams and Legion Field
For more than 90 years "the Old Gray Lady of Graymont" has welcomed various teams of different leagues and levels of competition with great memories from it. Have you been to one of these teams games? If so do you have memories of them?

RE: Current/Former Teams and Legion Field
My first game to Legion Field wasn’t a football game. It was a drum and bugle corps competition. In 1979 and 1980, Legion Field was the site of the Drum Corps International (DCI) World Championships. I was there in 1980. That was my first trip to the Old Grey Lady. Ironically, the stadium was painted green at the time. As I high school student, my high school played at Legion Field three different times in the Jefferson County Dental Clinic game. I thought I was rock star performing in that stadium.

I have very fond memories from Legion Field for many different reasons. I’m looking forward to the new stadium, but I will miss going. Legion Field.

RE: Current/Former Teams and Legion Field
The poll is kind of skewed. I voted for multiple and it is treating my individual vote differently.

Case in point, everyone or at least almost everyone voted will have seen UAB at Legion Field yet it is showing under 20%

I imagine my first game to watch at Legion Field was the All American Bowl.

My first event at legion field was Billy Graham . I was 5 years old ….maybe. I asked where we were going and I was told legion field. Imagine my surprise when it was preaching not football. This would have been the 1972 crusade.

A few dental clinic games, several Stallion and Fire games, The Hall of Fame Classic, the Papa John Bowl when CUSA participated. My first UAB game was against the Lindenwood Lions. I still have the program.

RE: Current/Former Teams and Legion Field
My first game at Legion Field was in 1968. I was 5 years old and my Dad took me to see the Baltimore Colts with John Unitas play the Chicago Bears in a preseason game. I saw my first college game in 1973 ....Auburn Vs Oregon State. Later that evening Alabama played Cal at Legion Field. Every now and then they played college double headers. My first Alabama game was in 1975 Alabama vs Mizzou. Tony Galbreath ran all over Alabama that night. My first UAB game was against Troy...1993? Troy was #2 in the country. UAB lost but had a GREAT goal line stand. I went to the first WFL game Bham Americans vs Southern Cal Sun. Americans won in a low scoring affair. I was also at the last Vulcans game. Bham played the Memphis Southmen with Csonka, Kick and Warfield and shut them out 21-0. The league folded the very next day. Ive witnessed MANY UAB games, but I think my favorites at the Rod Brooks game against ecu. ECU was ranked 15. Rod Brooks, the all everything to UAB got injured in the game and taken off on a stretcher...head taped to the board....whole nine yards. Off to the hospital he goes. UAB is doing nothing on offense then you see Brooks run back onto the field in the 3rd quarter. They had cur off his jersey and there wasn't a replacement. His mother was wearing his jersey from previous year. He puts on the jersey and proceeds to run a punt AND an interception back for TD's. Saw Herschel Walker play for the Generals in USFL. Was also present for the Van Tiffin kick against Auburn. Also saw Bo Jackson play there . Gotta say my favorite memories were when we attended UAB games, and every halftime I would take my kids walking around the concourse. Just walking and talking....looking at the Skyline and Red Mountain. I'm gonna miss The Old Gray lady.........

RE: Current/Former Teams and Legion Field
I think the poll's set up wrong (it shows that I voted for six choices, but the totals seem off).

My father took me to that Auburn/Oregon State game, too. And to see the Americans, when every game had a bench-clearing fight. I was also at the Tiffin kick game, but I was working. And I dated a Filly. She was walking or gum-chewing (not at the same time) proof of the breast-to-brain-ratio theorem.

And I saw the U.S. play Tunisia in Olympic soccer, then waited six hours for a bus to leave. Thanks, Gene Hallman!

Probably no way to clean up the poll calculation.

It should be the number of votes for an item (UAB for instance) divided by the number of those voting not the number of votes.

My first UAB game was a club game. Can't remember the opponent. Maybe Marion Military or possibly even Samford JV.

Most memorable overall - One of my first games was a Stallions game & friend I was with won a car giveaway they had that night.
Most memorable UAB - I'd say the first game we beat USM to break the losing streak vs them & the fashion in which we did it. Though this game might be replaced by the last game we play there. That'd have to be every UAB fans most memorable there as it shows just how much we're now moving up after so long of being held down.

Numerous UAB games (obviously), every Iron game, US Women’s Soccer friendly against Haiti, numerous Magic City Classics, numerous Birmingham Bowls, the FIU vs Alcorn State in the game played in Bham due to Hurricane Irma, and the Battle of the Bands last year.

Favorites are the UAB games (since the Return more sore than before as it is easier to get non-UAB friends to come tailgate and attend games now) and The Iron games because all of my group of friends tailgated every game and had the same team no matter our college team.

I've seen quite a few high school games in the stadium including some from my high school days.

I've also seen performers like Eddie Money, the Commodores, Ronnie Milsap, etc.

My first game at Legion Field was the 1988 Magic City Classic when I was 3 years old. The first one that I remember was the 1990 Phillips vs Parker game there.
