Colts select Danny Pinter, OG from Ball State, early in the 5th round. Pinter is the first MAC player to be drafted this year.

As a conference, we now have as many draftees as the University of Dayton.

It’s that uptick in recruiting from playing on Tuesdays.

Or no P.J. in K'zoo. He used to haul them in.

This is kind of feast or famine and this is famine.

An absolutely embarrassing performance by the MAC this year in the draft. Why do we sell our sole to play mid-week games... there is no added exposure.

Drop football to FCS and become a basketball conference.. I am sorry, but it is clear nobody cares about MAC football nationally.

Miami place kicker Sam Sloman was drafted in the 7th round by the Rams, who are coached by Miami grad Sean McVay.

The MAC would instantly become the dominant conference of FCS and have much more command over TV scheduling and regional alignment.

Your finances would likely be more stable and virtually every MAC team would be a perennial threat for national championships.

It’s an interesting thought.

Do you think Buffalo would want to move down? They have worked very hard to become a credible D1 school in the major sports.

Ohio ran a defacto FCS level program in the 80's. Started investing with the goal to try to obatin AAC success levels in FB/BB. Solich and Boals are highly paid and protected by the administration.

Then you have the Akron situation. Built a new FB stadium and it was a flop as far as advancing their program. They've had it now for 12 years so the luster has worn off. Basketball program has also peaked.

Miami has put in a beautiful FB facility and can recruit different parts of the Midwest like St. Louis area effectively than other MAC schools.

Its hard to see moves down unless the TV contracts (both MAC and CFP) were nuked and programs were left scrambling to find a conference.

I think the idea that the MAC would automatically be a dominant FCS conference is probably fantasy.

No, if the MAC moved to FCS the teams would all fade away to basically invisibility. It might be viable but maybe not even that.

If you have a coach like that than you can bring in a few more good recruits. But the TV exposure has nothing to do with that.

The G5 is invisible now sans like 10 teams.

Listen I’m an App State guy so I get the irony of what I’m saying. But there are 130 FBS teams and about 100 of them are lying to themselves about what league they are actually in. And I include my own school in that 100.

Sounds great except the current dominant conference is the CAA who commands their TV scheduling, and that deal with games streamed on Flosports it’s amazing...01-wingedeagle

This is kind of feast or famine and this is famine.

BTW, one of our MAC bloggers had a bar graph of MAC draftees by year.

I'll try to find the link, but it is feast followed by famine followed by feast followed by...

2017 was a banner draft year for the MAC.

https://getsomemaction.com/news/2018/4/2...draft.aspx

BTW, if we learned anything about the 2019 FB season from the NFL draft it is how strong teams like AL, OSU, LSU, Clemson, etc. are. The SEC is just plain dominant.

Florida International's James Morgan -- who transferred there after he lost the Bowling Green starting job to Jarrett Doege -- went in the fourth round to the New York Jets.

The Mike Jinks era was really something, let me tell you.

And then the NCAA ruled our next starter, Matt McDonald, ineligible for 2019.

We are righting this ship, but it has been a rough ride.
