RE: 2020-2021 Men's basketball roster.
I like Mike a lot and hope he takes the next step each night . He dominated at times last year but went completely away at others. You simply can’t have that for his level of talent. He was sensational against Notheastern so if he brings that, I would love it.

Not sure that this is a Sims vs Okauru starting debate in my eyes. Mike is more of a 2 ish type of guy while Jaylen is a natural 3 man forced into some 4 due to his defensive versatility.

RE: 2020-2021 Men's basketball roster.
Below is what 82 projected and I do think that it is well thought out and reasonable:

Phillips/Carr
Gadsden/Estime
Okauru/Tolefree
Boggs/Harvey
Steere/Dodd/Bowen.

I envision the team, assuming have a season to be like:

Phillips/Carr
Gadsden/(Okauru at times)Estime
Okauru/Harvey/Tolefree /(Sims at 3 some)
Sims/Boggs or combination (who defends better and values the ball)
Dodd/transfer/Bowen (Steere not currently eligible).

Not much of a change really, but Sims in there as he should be. Harvey can't play the role of a D1 PF (not enough size or girth) so he will be a guard/wing. He may be starting pretty soon given his ability to score at 3 levels and his "potential" to defend.

I've not seen any kind of announcement, but the transfer portal is now showing Steere immediately eligible to play.

If that is so it would be a great boost to this season's prospects.

Him and Dodd are a freaking force to deal with. That's if we actually tee it up? Maybe we could have a virtual CAA championship and see both of them dunking and blocking shots!! I'd love to see them go big at times and dominate together against a big team!

Ok. I saw that on Verbal Commits transfer list. Everywhere else I looked has him sitting.

You’re right that they do have him eligible. That would be good if we actually play.

Could be that it has to be official? He is within the 90 mile radius so who know's? A lot up in the air about the season anyways.

Apparently Verbal Commits knew something. Steere got his waiver to play.

That is huge. Should go a long way to easing everyone's concerns about our post presence.

Absolutely, provided we get to play this season this should make a big difference for our roster as it's currently made up, just as long as he stays committed to UNCW and the team.

Finally some real basketball news to get excited about! This waiver changes everything this year. It also allows Siddle to have some time to bring in some younger big men for the future. Dodd and Steere should get plenty of PT with four guards out.

My hope is that Steere is spending his time getting into exceptional condition so he can play the style Siddle will put on the floor. With this addition, UNCW will put a very competitive team on the floor for the next two years.

Jeff Goodman of Stadium, tweeted that Steere got a "runoff" waiver. St Johns supported the claim.

I'll take it.

What is a runoff waiver? Meaning he was ranoff from the team?

If so, and they agreed to it... I have concerns, given his history.
