I never understood how that happens. Bearcatman said that last game. Mcneil was leading us in the field got attemps I think in the first half. People should know their roles. Roles need to be defined.

Against Tulane McNeil only shot 2 times; one was a three point miss on a late pass to him. Sometimes I think our supposedly better three point shooters are hesitating at times too much. McNeil shooting certainly is disappointing but thought he played well defensively and rebounding (5) against Tulane.

To add onto this, McNeal had the 2nd lowest usage rate of anyone on the team against Tulane. Hell, Diara had a higher usage rate than he did. The fact that McNeal saw so many minutes was directly driven by MAW getting 2 early fouls and he was the only other option at PG other than Jarron. I think we've seen that under normal circumstances his impact on these games are so minimal that they don't really make that much of a difference on the overall outcome of the game.

Defensively he talked about a few issues they are having with positioning, some habits still from going from predominantly zone to predominantly man.

He also said they played pretty well against Tulane and then said something about these are not the droids you're looking for.

We're sadly lacking in that area when it comes to road games. It's hard to fathom how you can have a 5th year 4 playing against an undersized team, and he gets nothing inside the 3 point line in 30 minutes. Nor does he get to the ft line.

Coach said they played pretty well overall. I can’t say I agree with that. But I agreed with some of his other assessments including the seniors played well in the first half.

We know what mcneal is and its bad. Really bad. If we are going to lose, might as well give all his minutes to Harvey who will also not help us win but maybe it will prepare him for next year

Interesting idea. I'm guessing Harvey doesn't have the ball handling skills to run the point if MAW is on the bench with fouls or fatigue. Given Harvey's high recruiting profile I think we're all eager to see what role (if any) he can begin to carve out on this year's team.

Yeah...that's a no-win proposition. Literally nothing I've seen from the kid makes me think he can be a primary ball handler. It's McNeal or bust if MAW can't stay on the court.

Sure he is. I think he’s been on rosters for 5 of them. Lol. We are starting to see why.

People were excited about him after the exhibition game when he was playing against those high school kids.

Harvey is as much or a PG as Williams is. Unless the light pops on soon I will not be surprised if he is in the portal by mid March.

FWIW, in the pre-season introduction videos, Harvey introduced himself as "Zach Harvey, Point guard" lol

As others stated, the problem is Harvey doesn't play point guard. I know everyone is infatuated with getting the top-50 prospect more playing time but he's got two seniors and a junior ahead of him. It's a logjam at the 2/3 and unfortunately Harvey's on the wrong side of it. He'll get tons of playing time next year, however.

The free throw thing by itself has been a huge issue in quite a few of the losses which has nothing to do with running offense, chemistry et. al. Although we've been very good at getting to the line as you point out, our 67% is 3 points below last year, but in the Osu, BG, X and Colgate losses we were below the 67% which really impacted the results of those games. It's been better lately, so hopefully those really bad sub average games become few and far between the rest of the year. Our offense is creating opportunities for free points, but we have to take advantage of it. We're almost encouraging teams to foul us, particularly early on. We lost both the BG and Colgate games in that fashion. Odd year.

So does this game get voided now that the best player on the court was charged with murder?

Wow Tulane dismissed a player who declared for the NBA and is charged with murder. Very aggressive.

Tulane junior guard Teshaun Hightower was arrested and charged with murder Saturday in connection with a homicide in Stockbridge, Georgia, that took place earlier in April.

Hightower is being held in the Henry County Jail without bail, according to ESPN's Mark Schlabach. His charges include felony murder, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and battery. His court appearance was scheduled for Sunday morning. No bond amount was listed, according to Della Hasselle and Amie Just of The New Orleans Advocate.

The victim in the case is 24-year-old Devante Anthony Long. The incident occurred at an apartment complex the morning of April 8, when police responded to a call that a person had been shot. Long later died at a hospital.

In a Facebook post on Friday, the Henry County Police Department named five others as being involved in the homicide: Jeffrey Hightower, Kelvonie Burney, Tyreek Farmer, Tobias Gresham and Antonie Gresham.

Tulane dismissed Hightower from the team on Sunday, per CBS Sports' Jon Rothstein.

Hightower spent his first two seasons at Georgia before transferring to Tulane prior to this season. A native of Lithonia, Georgia, he played in 30 games for Tulane in 2019-20, averaging team-high 15.9 points per game. He had declared for the NBA draft on April 18, 10 days after Long was killed.
