RE: Board of Regents Meeting April 23 2020
I found this interesting item. It is NOT related to the COB building in downtown Ypsi.

It appears to me that something is cooking at the Lowell Street property which I assume is bounded by Lowell Street, St. John, and N. Huron (we had a discussion about this land I believe last year).

Putting 2 and 2 together, it appears to me, and remember I'm 500 miles away, that EMU is attempting to consolidate more stuff on campus (albeit even expanding it slightly) while decommissioning buildings off of campus.

If some super sleuth had read through the BOR documents (I know as exciting as watching grass grow...) they might have caught wind of something up with COB and Pierce.

500K dollars sitting there for all to see... And also 1M bucks each for Rec/IM and soccer field.

I'm curious how much of that "triangle" between Lowell, Jarvis, and Huron River Dr. is in play. That property has been an eyesore as far back as I can remember. I didn't realize how expansive that area was. Hopefully they can integrate it into the existing campus well. Another idea would be to make it a parking lot and put buildings in the Ann St. lot and/or the Best Hall lot.

Yes. Agree 100%.

There is a lot EMU could do. They could add parking lot spaces there and remove them from other sites.

Ann Street or Best Hall lot OR even some of the Green Lot 1 which is a very valuable site close to academic or residential buildings.

BTW, great questions.

As I indicated when we discussed this land which was for sale, there was NO indication that anything had happened (i.e., being purchased).

Now the doc seems to suggest that EMU has possession of the land and are taking phase I actions ("secure and prepare").

I'm not into building, etc. but I'd think 'secure and prepare' might mean demolishing existing buildings, fencing, and security lighting. Can that be done for 500K?
