RE: Minor leagues agree in principle to MLB plan to reduce affiliated minor
I wonder who all is moving to AA?
I figure Fresno, currently in the AAA Pacific Coast League, should move down to the Class A California League to replace Lancaster, and both Sugar Land and St. Paul, currently independent, should join the PCL (AAA), which will likely split into two.
PCL: Tacoma, Sacramento, Reno, Las Vegas, Salt Lake, Albuqerque, El Paso, San Antonio, Round Rock, Sugar Land
New AAA League: Oklahoma City, Wichita, Omaha, Iowa, Saint Paul, Memphis, Louisville, Indianapolis, Toledo, Columbus
IL: Nashville, Gwinnett, Durham, Charlotte, Norfolk, Buffalo, Syracuse, Lehigh Valley, Scranton-WB, Worcester
The Southern League is due to lose two - it seems like Rome (GA) and Augusta (who actually plays in North Augusta, SC) are really the only two South Atlantic League teams in the current footprint. Bowling Green would make sense, but I don't see another Midwest League team coming with them.
I would expect the Eastern League to take Wilmington (DE) and Fredericksburg as they would be the northernmost remaining teams in the Carolina League
TL: Arkansas, NW Arkansas, Springfield (MO), Tulsa, Amarillo, Corpus Christi, Midland, Frisco
SL: Tennessee, Rocket City, Birmingham, Rome, Augusta, Montgomery, Mississippi, Pensacola, Biloxi, Jacksonville
EL: Bowie, Richmond (VA), Fredericksburg, Akron, Altoona, Harrisburg, Wilmigton (DE), Reading, Trenton, Portland (ME), New Hampshire, Hartford
