Good news amid all the doom and gloom. They need to be hit square in the pocketbook and HARD.

Wonder what BoJo's thoughts were on the topic before the lying commies tried to off a head of State of one of the most powerful Country's in the world?

Should do it anyway due to Huawei being a surveillance/espionage vector for the CCP.

I don't even know why people think that the Chinks are playing fair. Everyone of their people are spies in a way for them. They are OWNED by China and are pawns for them. Even the tourists that are "allowed" to travel are third degreed when they return. It's not like American and every other tourists that go to other countries. These people for the vast majority only travel for pleasure not for "their country".

Why Huawei (for one) was even allowed to set up a business in the US is mind boggling. Any one with a brain knows what their agenda was/is.

I forgot to add, why is the US allowing Chinese citizens to work in university labs and study in American universities? Like I said, these are Chinese spies working and gathering important info and we're too stupid to realize it. Let them study Literature or Basketweaving alongside our Liberal geniuses.

Everyone hoped that interaction with western civilization would create enough internal agitation within China that a liberalization would occur. And maybe if the CCP weren't facing financial, resource and demographic challenges it might have occurred. But somewhere around 2010 Xi realized that the only way for the CCP to remain in power and stabilize his country was to make the rest of the world his b-i-t-c-h.

One other way to slap the Chinese in a way that really stings----officially recognize Taiwan. Every nation that suffers a Coronavirus death or endures economic damage from the pandemic should respond by recognizing Taiwan.

The problem with that plan is that it ends the veil of independence Taiwan currently enjoys. Of the nations that could recognize them as a nation, how many would defend that sovereignty?

Like you said---its a veil. There is nothing protecting them now. Besides, nobody will have to defend them. Just create a small naval base for the US and small naval base for Russia. Let each base ships there. End of story. China will not start a war with 2 nuclear powers at the same time---especially when one of them sits on its border. Frankly, I think we need to to move closer to the Russians right now. We have far more in common with Russia than China. China is the much larger threat. Plus, there is also always the chance that Taiwan becomes a nuclear power.....that would represent a nice counter weight in the area to North Korea.

I would have liked for the U.S. to have a better relationship with Russia as well. Alas, by breaking our promise and letting ex-Warsaw Pact countries into NATO, that ship I fear has sailed. Both China and Russia feel its in their best interest to undermine America as it give them the freedom to maneuver against other nations that lack the will to fight.

^^^I understand that Russia may pull some **** here and there as it would be in their best interest to do from time to time as well as they have a history of doing so, but I 100% agree in having/needing a closer relationship with them.

Russia loves their independence as much as us. Neither seem to trust China even though we both work with China or have. I’d love if we worked together in responses regarding China as well as other things that mutually benefit each other.

Hell if it wasn’t for the U.S. and Russia/Soviet Union being on the same side in WWI and WWII this world would look entirely different. I’m not saying WWIII is on the horizon but if it ever happens I’d rather have Russia on our side instead of China’s. That is for damn sure.

I don’t trust a single thing China puts out to the public. Plus if it wasn’t for stealing our intellectual property for 25+ years who knows what China would have become, but they would be no where near where they are at.(Not saying they aren’t intelligent. It is obvious they are from their students here in America. I just don’t find them to innovate anywhere near the level the US and Russians have been for the past 100+ years)

RE: Britain shuts out China 5G
Here is the problem Putin faces. Russia has no easily defensible borders, and demographics will force a reduction in size of his army within the decade.

The Great European Plain runs from the Rhine and the Ardennes in the west to the Urals in the east, with very few breaks. It is occupied primarily by three countries whose fortunes have been shaped differently by the lack of a natural defensive barrier.

Germany had powerful France to the west and the plain to the east, so it had to become a warlike major military power to survive. They simply had to do everything better than anyone else, so they did. The problem is that when Germany is doing everything better than anybody else, they are a threat to everybody.

Russia's western defense has always been that it is such an inhospitable place for a foreign army in winter that nobody has been able to invade and succeed--not Napoleon, not Hitler. The historic scare for the Russians has been the Mongol hordes from the east, and that was a major factor in the breakup of the USSR. Slavic Russians weren't having kids as fast as Asian Kazakhs and Turkmenis and Uzbekis and the like, so Russians were going to become a minority in their own country, and even sooner a minority in the Red Army. And as someone once said about Gorshkov, he was a pragmatist first, a Russian second, and a Communist third. What Russia had in the Iron Curtain days was a defensible western border--anchored in the Carpathain Alps in Romania to the south, with only a fairly narrow European Plain carridor before hitting the Baltic. Now that border is much longer, with almost nothing to stop potential invaders. And that low Slavic birth rate no longer makes Russians a minority in their own army, but it is shrinking the number of people of age to serve in that army, and that limits Putin's hand. If he is going to do anything, he needs to do it by 2030.

Poland and the Poles have pretty much always been there, between Russia and Germany, for centuries, but in different places at different times. If you can find one of those interactive historic maps of Poland, it has been there most of the time, but not in the same place. When modern-day Gdansk was Danzig between the wars, it was supermajority German. Now it is supermajority Polish. The Germans left, and the Poles moved back. That's pretty much what it has meant to be Polish for centuries.

Letting Poland, the Baltics, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania, and Bulgaria into NATO really spooked the Russians. Those formerly defensible borders are now part of NATO. It has only Ukraine, Moldova, and Belarus for buffers. I'm not sure what Putin can actually do. I think it would be good for us to explore our options there.

Winning Russia’s trust back would essentially require the U.S. to leave NATO as it would give Putin the ability to pursue his security desires unopposed. It would also allow Russia to corner European Energy markets.
