Conversation with Takayo Siddle, New UNC Wilmington Head Coach
Probably the best interview I've heard with Coach Siddle. Jamie Shaw is really good at what he does. I recommend giving him a follow if you like keeping up with NC High School basketball.

I know it's been a rough past three seasons. But I actually believe we will be in a better place because of it. I think Siddle is a much better HC now than he would have been three years ago. He had the opportunity to grow with a P5 program and build bigger contacts as a assistant coach/ recruiter. He is in a much better place of influence and respect than he would have been three years ago. He needed that extra time to grow. And I think we are going to be the beneficiaries of it.

I agree. In the interview he gave reasons why he went to Hargrave (prep school). He wanted to mature on and off the court. Despite the feelings around him wanting the job when Kevin left - it is my opinion that his 3 years at state have given him an expanded and much better ability to do things right at the Dub.

I hadn't thought about the fact that he he fact that he hasn't left the state during his college coaching career. He also talked about winning a championship with a team full of NC products; we have to get to championship level, but we have a lot of NC products and a lot of talent.

We need to catch and pass UNCG and get back to our status as the best mid-major in the state. I know Davidson is there as well, but they don't recruit the state the same way.

Monty Sanders has also been in NC since his playing days at Elon.
