RE: Rockets Add 5 MBB Signees
Since there is not sports to watch, how about speculating on starters?
Center: Edu,
Guards: M. Jackson, Littleson, Rollins or Saunders as the third guard
Forward; Acunzo (if healthy)

Next year's team will look like a Joplin team. Lots of hard fouls. Lots of dunking. Lots of steals. Lots of fast breaks.

The league rosters are starting to look a lot like the late 90s-early 2000's. A lot of similar perimeter size and athleticism ...
But if coaches stay true to form teams will be playing a lot of different styles:
Joplin's teams played a lot different than Dakich's teams, and his teams played a lot different from Charlie Coles teams ... and those teams played a lot different than Gary Waters teams ... that played a lot different from Marshall's teams and so on.
If made for a demanding and fun league to follow ... unlike other leagues where everybody mimicked what the league power did ... nearly everybody played motion offense/zone defenses ... or fullcourt offenses with m-m defenses.
The MAC always had a dash of everything in it, which is why, back then, those league/tournament champs nearly always did well in the NCAA Tournament. If TK has a chuck-n-duck offense with this bunch, they better be an elite rebounding team.

RE: Rockets Add 5 MBB Signees
TK said "The three junior college players will even out the experience level throughout the team, even while Kowalczyk admitted to having little success with junior college transfers at Toledo.
“I've dabbled in it,” Kowalczyk said of the junior college route. “We've had some really good success, and to be honest with you, some pretty major failures with it and really no in-between. At Green Bay we had some really good ones that were great. We have not done much of it here at Toledo, but we haven't fared very well.”
I recall that way back in the Joplin era (2003 I think) the Rockets pushed hard to sign a JC player from Texas, Benito Flores, who ultimately signed with Kowalczyk at Green Bay and had a stellar couple years there.

Verbal Commits reports that the Rockets have offered 6'8 PF Will Tschetter from Stewartville HS in Minnesota. I hope we sign this guy next year just because he has a "Tschett kickin" name.

While his success with JC Transfers has obviously not been as productive as his Division 1 Transfers, TK needed to balance out his roster this way as the upcoming Junior Class had no returning players. Going the Junior College recruiting route is a "crapshoot" a lot of the time as you are bringing in players from a lower level of competition and are just projecting how that will translate to playing Division 1 Basketball. Let's hope that Milner, Jones, and Komagum can reverse TK's track record with JC players and provide Toledo with "quality" minutes over the next 2 seasons!

More and more (like Milner) JC recruits actually do have D1 experience, which also means they were academic qualifiers out of high school ... as for quality of play, and 'lower level' one has to be careful w/that as more than a few JCs are actually recognized as high quality programs with high quality recruits.
Players from COSI (College of Southern Idaho) and Indian Hills just to name two are well run successful winning programs where even backup players are often solid mid-major recruits.
The 1980s perception of juco basketball is way out of line with what is happening now.

other schools whose recruiting looks pretty good are western, ohio, kent state and buffalo. not all have big classes but generally adding good players where they are needed.

Good luck, TJ. One of my favorite Rockets. Played hard at every opportunity, never appeared to have an attitude on the bench, seemed like a great teammate.

It’s interesting that coach K stayed during the interview that the signing of Moss was a “surprise”. I am guessing that he thought Moss was changing commitment to another school but he still chose I UT. That’s all good! He describes him as a blended Pearson and Drummond. One can only hope!
Go Rockets!
