Starting at the 8:57 mark, in response to the questioning, "How different has your job become? You'd be having much different conversations in a non-pandemic year...How different have the dynamics of your job become the last few months?"

ARESCO: It's been totally different. As you know, we'd be talking about our P6 campaign...focus would be on how far the league has come and how much, how well we're doing...That's all been put into the background at this point, you know, we didn't even feel it was appropriate really, to be talking much about the P6 at this point. the only time we've talked about it has been to differentiate ourselves from the conferences that may not have the resources we have...we recognize that we're much more like the 5, and so therefore we don't need as much of that help. and that's about the only time it's been discussed. It's been totally a different situation. First things first.

Because there are people on this board thinking the P6 campaign has been abandoned. Because there are posters on this board WHO POST ON THE MWCBOARD that the P6 campaign has been set aside since the contract...

Aresco's wording strongly suggests that, while the process was amicable there were some downward "adjustments."

If ESPN cut the funding at all, there's no reason why the details should remain secret, even if it's only $100,000 per school per year.

You don’t seem to understand that the presidents tell him what he can and can’t say

Agree. Plus, if we aren't getting less money per school, then who cares?
Consider the source. There are trolls (one in particular that is likely a Nova fan) that post here and several other boards all day/every day claiming to be a Temple fan. They continually post and create polls about losing teams to expansion, replacing Uconn with teams that bring no value and how losing Uconn hurts the league.

And their little DePaul partner who is a fan of everybody and loves chiming in to reinforce.
Hmmm. I wonder who those two could be? Lemme guess,,,,, Jed C and Bill D. I don't know.07-coffee307-coffee3

You are an asset to this board. All I really contribute is (arguably) above average gifs.

Never doubt your contributions to this board again. We all have roles to play and can’t all be quarterbacks.

Love the P5 portion of the interview.

Aresco: "Not going to promote the whole P6 campaign because I don't think it's appropriate given the circumstances"

Also Aresco: Promotes P6 campaign for 3 minutes

Good interview, wish he would continue with the P6 campaign, no reason to stop, unless he is unable to "walk and chew gum" at the same time.

Did the same thing in the May Bull Speed Ahead interview...said, "Hey, the most imoortant thing is health and safety, it would not be appropriate to bang the P6 drum when the questions are COVID and healtg and safety..."

And then banged the P6 drum for like 5 minutes...

It’s funny. I cringed when they first launched the P6 campaign. Because at the time we weren’t even close to the P5 conferences. We were still kind of in our infancy. And I knew the P6 thing was a joke to the other conferences. But now I have to admit, he had it right. It has been working and gaining more and more acceptance as it continues. I feel like we’re on the doorstep. We just got to knock the door down.

True. My role is the sideline camera guy that gets run over.

G4 folks especially laughed at the P6 campaign, but it's working pretty well. I've heard Aresco say in more than one interview that it's not about being equal to the P5. It's about being better than the G4, only he probably said it a little more tactfully.

RE: Aresco Interview

Aresco talks playoff expansion at the end. Says a working group will be looking at proposals over the next 4-6 months. Nothing can happen this year or next year, so three seasons out soonest. Feels AAC deserves a spot. If the current system stays in place, he'll make a push to regain auto qualifier bowl bid (contract bowl).

Thx, it does, but it’s the closest I can get to podcasts. You can use the menu from the link to find the interview under podcasts.
