2000-present UNCW Basketball Quarantine Challenge
Much like we did for baseball last month, a UNCW Basketball Quarantine Challenge was held again this past Saturday. The participants were me, CGHawk, seahawkhoops, Mike Barnes and Brant Wilkerson.

5 teams drafted 8 players each, auction-style, choosing from players from the 2000-01 season to present. Each team then had to settle on a starting 5, 6th man and the 2 other bench slots.

Players were eligible if they met any of the following criteria: 1) Graduated/finished their career as a Seahawk; 2) Played at least 2 full seasons with the Seahawks; 3) Current players who were on the team in the 2019-20 season.

Vote for your top team here: https://t.co/b45YzZkd4K?amp=1

The teams can be found below:

Thoughts:

1) Tim Burnette was so good, but I thought he went DII after being suspended.
2) How does Ebong get left out?
3) Is Team Brownell disqualified for including Fornes? He doesn't meet the criteria does he (finished career as a Seahawk)?
4) How did y'all let Team Keatts run away with this?

Ebong didn’t meet the criteria. Fornes did play two full years as did Timmy. 4- will chime in after voting

So the criteria is 1 or 2, not 1 and 2? They both played at least two seasons, but they didn't graduate or finish their career as a Seahawk.

Bryce didn't graduate as a Seahawk either.

Oh, ok. They don't have to meet 1and 2.

Correct. If we limited it much further than that, it honestly would’ve been quite difficult to put any teams together.

Most of us drafted teams based on their skills as Seahawks, but we understand that some eligible and drafted players draw the ire of hardcore fans.

Good deal! Just asking for clarity...it's a fun exercise in our sports-deprived world.

agree! It was fun, and i'm sure much needed for everyone.
It is funny how Brownell's team ended up with a Keatts esk, team and Keatts ended up with a Brownell Esk. team. I'm told the GM's tried to get a trade done for the coaches post draft but could not come to terms.

Those were the top 2 for me, but a combination of Williams, Callahan, Terrell, Laue and Hendley...I'm going to abuse Team Brownell in the post, and I've think I've got the defensive answer for Flemmings in Terrell and Laue. Talley is the perfect PG for that team too. Eastman is finishing third.

RE: 2000-present UNCW Basketball Quarantine Challenge
If you just take your starting 5 there are two teams that could all compete.

1. Eastman - Cacok, Spruill and Bryce at the core would be hard to handle.
2. Keatts - Talley, Carter and Williams as your guards...yikes.

With the bench, Team Keatts runs away with it. Laue, Lacy and Terrell off the bench? I'll take that.

Brownell and Brooks tie for last either way.

He finished his career in 1999-00. Only players from The 2000-01 team and beyond were included.

You're right, but Gadsden, Blizz and Flemmings is a pretty good core and Coombs was solid. Plus, Blizzard was the main piece in carrying Thelmon, Perine, Ebong, OLEEEG, Hare, and Danny Dahl to a CAA championship. The Blizzard effect is mostly earned.

Maybe some of y'all remember Oleg working on campus. One night, a friend of mine had some friends over in Galloway and Oleg was working the front desk. My friend had to leave his license with Oleg while they were in the building...we came back down an hour later and Oleg says the license is lost...he can't find it and there's nothing else he can do about. "What do you mean you lost the license?" Oleg gave zero *****. We still give our guy a hard time about Oleg selling his ID.

We all got a pretty good laugh about it. Probably a little messed up, but I didn't post to shed him in a negative light. We all liked him just the same afterward. My boy wasn't 21 either; he came from a community college, so he was probably 20 at the time, but we really didn't understand why his ID was "picked", but he was "that guy" that stuff always happened to.

UNCW had some really dumb practices back then. Why they required a driver's license to check into a dorm I'm not sure, and the very first student ID (I think it was called the UNSea Card) I received had my social security number on it.

I remember the same being required of visitors to dorms when I was there. I had a UNSea card too but I don’t recall if my social was on it or not though. Either way, that’s colossally dumb.
