RE: Nikki On Mississippi State’s Radar
According to the Starksville Daily News, MSU expected to finalize the hire yesterday.
If MSU players start to enter the portal (one already has) then I would be weary of taking that job.
MSU fans enjoyed winning during Coach Schaefer's tenure and won't be merciful if Coach McCray doesn't match his success. His team is supposed to be in the top 10 next season.
I know what you're saying, always take the better job. Well Shaka Smart did and now Texas fans want him fired. Taking the better job could result in a faster exit from your career than staying put and negotiating better pay and conditions with your current AD. Maybe not P5 money but a nice pay raise and a lifetime contract?
If not, Good Luck Coach. You'll be missed.
What do you think about Nancy as a replacement?

I know what you're saying, but Nikki proved she could do it. Do you remember when we lost a few players after Karen Barefoot left? If I recall correctly, Nikki only had like 8 or so players overall, and look how quickly she turned things around. Simply put, she's a winner. I wish she would've stayed a bit longer.

Nikki changed her twitter stuff over to state stuff and tweeted excitement for her new gig. I’m very happy for her. I do find it a bit distasteful that she hasn’t addressed Monarch Nation yet.

Has she addressed her players?

I would hope they would have been the first people she addressed.

Monarch Nation never really welcomed her to ODU. There was absolutely no enthusiasm for the WBB program when she arrived. I've been to a few games. I've seen more fans at Chess matches. I'm pretty sure she's happy to put ODU behind her now. The MSU fans will probably give her an enormous welcome unlike her debut at The Ted which drew 1,500 fans.
Bring back Wendy Larry.

Between what Wendy left behind and then what Barefoot did to this program, I’d say the second half of the season Monarch Nation began to show up. There were enough loyal WBB fans that a simple “thank you” would go a long way with those folks.

I know Nikki had a five year contract with Old Dominion with two years remaining. Does anyone know if that contract had a buyout clause that Mississippi State would have to pay ODU.

Sad to hear that this was mandated as part of her departure, as opposed to something she would do on her own volition.

Doubt it was mandated. I am willing to give her the benefit of the doubt that this is sincere

"Man I can't believe she hasn't said goodbye to ODU fans yet?"
"Oh my god she wrote a goodbye letter but it was 'not authentic'"
This board sometimes.

The people making those type of comments obviously have never spoken to coach or follow the women’s program very much. She is a class act!

Nikki On Mississippi State’s Radar
I'm still waiting for my hand written thank you note from her. /sarcasm.
Best of luck to her!
She got us back on track and this next hire is critical. It needs to be another of her quality. At this point it's the best we can hope for at our stage. Like many have said before, if our coaches are hanging out for 3 or 4 years and going to a top p5 that means they're successful. Her replacement might be more critical than her hire that got us back on track.

Interesting interview with Ted just a day or so earlier...Good poker face and not a word hinting at departure... No real surprise...Guess that’s how the job hopping game goes...

As said earlier, kudos to Nikki for delivering while she was here...

I love how the Power 5 conferences will tell us little guys we suck in a second, then buy our coaches away the next! I'm really starting to hate college sports. Even there, it's not a level playing field - pun intended.
