First thing that popped into my head, but maybe I have my "scale" wrong. It looks easy to exceed the height of kicking a punt in there............

no, your scale isn't off. there will be no punting in that facility, field goals should be okay tho.
Quote:Typical field houses range from 55 to 65 feet at their zenith, a practical choice that accommodates nearly all practice activities. "You have a choice of punting or not punting," says Robert Fatovic, vice president at Washington, D.C.-based CannonDesign, citing the current benchmark for punting, the 90-foot-high video board at AT&T Stadium, home of the Dallas Cowboys.

I was thinking it looked low. But if we aren't going to punt in it at least it won't get our punter scared like the scoreboard that gave our punter the shanks in the Cotton Bowl.

RE: IPF
The pictures don't do it justice, it will be fine for kicking, so much larger than you think, especially from inside. The one picture where the Coaches's office building is in the back ground is messing it up for some. I was there today and they were just starting to hang the goalposts from the ceiling. Field turf work should start Monday. They are also converting the field to the west of the IPF to field turf as well, it has been stripped of sod, drainage put in, and will be done soon.

So only 1 of 4 fields will remain grass?

Yes, I think so. There were 4 fields out there, the eastern most one became the IPF. Then the one directly adjacent to the IPF is becoming turf. That leaves one grass field, and then the western most field was already turf, I think.

I was mistaken, the field right next to the IPF is newly sodded grass, not artificial turf, saw it today. The goal posts are hung and the installation of the playing surface inside the IPF is scheduled to begin this week. It is going to look really cool.

This is exciting. It's awesome to see our Administration finally invest in football. I didn't think I would see Memphis football at its current level during my lifetime.

Finally is a less than appreciative word to use at this point. I think we can say we’ve been reaping the rewards for increased FB investment for several years.
While the leadership has been creative in fund raising and planning, investments are reflective of the generosity of fans and friends of the university/FB program.

If this video pulls up (not sure I posted it correctly) does anyone know if the image of the wall from seconds 47-50 of this are the inside walls of the new IPF? I figured it had to be, right??
