Sounds like a solid committment based on this news story in the local Denton newspaper. I like that his father was a former college QB. I checked DENTON RYANS 2020 football schedule and it includes four games here in Frisco against Frisco High School teams (we have 11 public high schools in Frisco). So, that means I will be there in my MEMPHIS TIGER gear sitting in the DENTON RYAN section.

That's believable. People seem to love Coach Silverfield.
Silverfield appears to be cut from the same cloth as Norvell. I have been monitoring the WARHOOP videos posted by the FSU fans and they are remarking about the excitement that Norvell has brought to their practices (when they were able to have them) and recruiting. There are several videos on YouTube of those practices and you can see the uptempo style of coaching that Norvell and Silverfield are practicing, probably in a lot more detail than what we had experienced during Norvell's years. It is like a good look at the past practice coaching style of the Memphis staff under Norvell and Silverfield.
I happen to believe that RS is a better example...IMHO...The work ethic may be the one glaring similarity, however, from an ethical standpoint, RS seems to be cut from a different cloth than Norvell.....With loyalty being a rare trait.....Memphis wins out tremendously in this scenario.....We could NOT be in better hands rn....This is a tremendous blessing

I know Norvell personally. Belittling or questioning his "ethics" is absurd. He is a genuinely good guy and did nothing but represent Memphis with pride and shine good light on the city of Memphis during his time here. Silverfield appears to be a genuinely good person as well and his actions and decision can prop himself up, he does not need to be propped up by dragging down Norvell.
Seth sounds like a great kid with a very good head on his shoulders. I love that he is a coaches kid, they just seem to have an advanced level of understanding of the game. Welcome aboard and I am very excited to have his commitment!

Why people hold coaches to a higher standard than we hold ourselves is beyond me.

Thank you Senor! Thagr whatever is WAAAAAAAAY out of line. You are spot on!
Coach Silverfield is great and I am so happy he is our coach. However, Coach Norvell was a totally class act and was incredibly loyal to our program and our city. For anyone to allude that he was not a good person or not ethical is simply beyond the realm of reason.

I too understand what you guys are saying but I think tharg was questioning his ethics from a loyalty standpoint. Yet even then I have it first hand that he explained to recruits that if a better offer came along he would be going but only after he had improved upon Memphis' program.
Norvell did it the right way and he even wanted to coach the team against Penn St but Florida St's fan was adamant that he is now a Seminole and his attention should only be on them. Otherwise, Memphis might have beaten Penn St. This is no slight against Silverfield or Johns but Norvell's knowledge on his offense is unparalleled.

I hope one day in the future to see Memphis vs Florida State in the CFP one day.

Thagr's comment was not out of line.
He made the observation that Silverfield is 100% dedicated to being the long term Tigers coach with no plans of looking for another job.
Norvell was a great guy and did a lot for the program.
But we knew from day one this was just a stopover for him.
With Silverfield this is a career position as long as he can produce.
So that does give him an extra boost over Norvell.

When he questions Coach Norvell’s ethics, he is out of line. Try reading his post again. If you don’t understand my point, I am sorry.

Idk if he explained it to every recruit but he basically said you can't predict the future. Most players, from what I can tell, knew he was gone when Florida St came calling.

He was also gone earlier if Arkansuck had offered----and he loved MEMPHIS so much that at his FSU presser he said that taking the FSU job was an easy decision.....but I am a Norvell fan and predict he will win a national championship.

Sometimes you have to make a decision that you believe is best for you and your family and your future. I really have no problem with Norvell taking the FSU job. They have a great football tradition in a football rich state. Good for him...he deserved it based on the great job he did for us. I have no problem with him making those kinds of decisions. Based on where you want to go with your life....certain decisions become easy. They don't always work out though!!! Chapter two for Norvell is ...it looks good on day 1 but how does it play out?? That is the mystery in taking any new job. You take the new job because all the stars are lined up and it looks perfect.....two to three years later you say...."Why did I do that?" or "What the heck just happened?"

It is a thread about a QB committing to Memphis and he used that as a chance to take a completely pointless shot at Norvell’s ethics. Completely off topic, of no value and said to stir the pot.
Based your posting history I completely get why think it is in line.
The only thing I will add to disagree with earlier statements, Arkansas DID offer.
Back to the actual point of this thread... He seems like a great addition to the QB stable. He will definitely have his hands full in the future, we have some solid recruits already on this team.

True indeed. I hope we keep aspects of Norvell's offense.
