This is exactly the right take. Life will not be "normal" until there is a vaccine or enough of us have been infected AND they can prove that infection equals immunity.

No vaccine but medicine that relieves symptoms effectively for many. Unfortunately I think that's becoming a 1st option too quickly and to some, the only option. If covid-19 was primarily matter blood transfusion, reusing needles and sticking your jimmy in the wrong place, most would be fine.

Bunch of CFB and Covid-19 news briefs here, i.e., football games with no fans, expanded CFP survey, etc.:

Playing games in front of no fans? At least we have some experience with that. (rimshot)

Seriously, could you do a pay per view thing to help drive some revenue? Like how much would you pay to watch a NIU and Rhode Island game in front of only coaches and officials? I think I'd pay 5 or 10 bucks, especially if I could get online access to a recording of it. I say 5 or 10 bucks just off the top of my head. You might be able to sell me on a season viewership pass for something like $100, maybe $150. I view this as a once in a lifetime thing (God we all hope), so I might pay higher to help things out.

What would anyone else think they'd pay for this? just curious.

As long as they play I’d pay anything they asked. I’d even shell out the $20 to park in my own driveway and drink there.

For real, I’d pay anywhere between 20 to 40 a game depending on opponent. It would just be a donation.

You would have to chain me down or kill me first before I'd take a vaccine for this thing. Somehow I dont trust Bill Gates enough for that

I keep thinking MaddDawgz02 can never top his last stupid statement.
But he always proves me wrong.

And I really like MD. He even helped me get a home weather station.
I guess it proves that watching FOX will dumb you down.

I support everyone’s right to what goes into their bodies. So if you do not want to get vaccinated for covid19 I would not argue against it. But I would argue that if you do catch the virus post vaccine you are now responsible for the expense of treatment yourself and not by your health care provider since this was a preventable illness.

I firmly believe a person would face ten times as likely death from Bill Gates vaccine than COVId

Here is another cause for concern ignoring Bill Gates. The current CDC director, appointed by Trump, has a history long ago of falsifying research for AIDS vaccine. He intentionally misrepresented data to push his vaccine and was called out by whistleblowers. He never faced punishment because his actions were whitewashed. But guess who his assistant was in the early 90a during these fraudulent trials for a vaccine, no other than Dr Birx. You literally cannot make this up. This is where rhe current administration can be rightly criticized. Trump has a history of making very questionable choices to lead agencies, organizations, and departments

He is basically funding every meaningful vaccine effort. He also on multiple occasions has preached on how we need to lower our population. I am not taking a vaccine from someone that thinks the world needs fewer people. Call me paranoid! Bottom line, I think money is the driving force behind the Coronavirus, its all about selling a vaccine. Even at the CDC, its all about the money and the history of Redfield and Birx should scare the hell out of everyone. Also Fauci and Gates have a history together.

RE: Realistic fall football timelines?
Here's the most hopeful vaccine story I've seen.
https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/...nths-times

The whole vaccine development effort reminds me of my business and software development experiences: everyone seems forced to announce big things earlier than they are comfortable with, and over promise on schedule and functionality/effectiveness. I'm glad there's alot of action in this space, as you'd expect, but I won't believe it until the needle is in my arm/butt cheek/wherever.

True story here - I spent 2 years in the 90s supporting drug development efforts for Upjohn in Kalamazoo MI. One of the compounds we worked on was an early erectile enhancement drug, before the blue pill. The one issue I found challenging with that new drug was, um..how do I say this...it needed to be ...here it comes....INJECTED. Yes, injected directly into the part of the body it was meant to enhance. I remember drinking in Paw Paw with some of the swedish team members who claimed the injection device they invented was virtually painless. In the end, I don't think that drug did too well :) Plenty of other stories are coming back to me now, including the lab animals (orangutans I think) who would sling their feces at the researchers through the cage doors. Drug development was an incredible interesting business with stories galore.

haha I am sure, I am not a Trump supporter, more just an anti-corruption in government person. That is one thing Trump has shown us, we have an awful lot of corrupt people at high positions. Unfortunately, he has proven ineffective at ridding us of these people.

And student fees are about $9m in about a $26m budget. Anyway, here's a CBS pickup:

Just wanted to add that priority 1 is safety/health. Love the Huskies, but ...

Isn’t Maryland a home and home? I think they are supposed to come to DeKalb ( or more like Seat Geek) in 2025.

This year, our moneymakers are Iowa and BYU (at Seat Geek).

Here is a question, let’s say there is CFB and attendance is way down due to coronavirus. Would Iowa be able to get away with paying us less?

RE: Realistic fall football timelines?
It will be interesting to see what happens come September. As others have conjectured, this pandemic will not be over quickly - not until a vaccine and/or medications are developed and implemented. That will take several months after clinical trials are successful. So what does that mean for college football? If they play football in the fall, it may be in front of no fans. If the restrictions are lifted, there may be a few brave souls in the stands. Does that mean that they will play the games, cancel the season, or just stick with the conference games starting in October (with some re-scheduling)? My guess - and just a guess - is that the season will be cancelled or just limited to the conference games.

The interesting suggestion brought up here is for a pay TV/streaming service. If they are going to do that - and I think it's a great idea - they should have the games on a real TV station and charge what's necessary. Of course, a power team would have no trouble doing that, while a smaller school may have no choice but to stream the games. The question is, do they want to expose the players to possible virus transmittal among themselves - especially being in close contact, exposed to body fluids, sweat, etc.? For that reason alone, unless a miracle vaccine and medication come along by Fall, the 2020 season may very well be cancelled.

At some point we just have to accept the fact, yes there is a virus, there is some risk, but we must live our lives. It may take the decision makers awhile to come to this realization but we have to live our lives. This way of life will kill tens of thousands more than a virus. I

They cannot guarantee safety of students. What is occurring in one city is not the same as another. You have one player infected the whole team is done, as well as their opponent. Same goes for a crowd. Only takes one.

On the flip side, that is not to say a business can't open if the have the medical tools. There would need to be regulations that need to be followed. unfortunately, getting 330 million on the same page is the problem. One barber could infect a dozen in one day. And how do you screen customers? I saw in some country those previously infected had cards to work. That would be seen as unlawful here. I don't have the solution. The solution is there and a lot of it is honesty and common sense as well as a federal government with a plan and supplies. That is months away I am afraid. The can't even provide tests and masks to medical people. Have 1000's of infected public employees, 100's dead that were taking steps. And who knows what scams are happening on the net, retail. And when they say 6 feet, studies saying more like 13 are hush hush as well as explanations of how it travels, through masks I don't know what to think.

I just could not foresee a stadium full of fans in close contact, even teams for fear of infection.
