Yeah, kick them off the board already. There are no spring sports to talk about and July 1st is the official date they are on the wac. I say bye bye to them Phantom.

I can't remove or add boards. I need to put in a request. It may not be up to me when they get removed. But they will be removed.

Roadrunners are the state bird of NM. Got nothing against them.

The CSUB board was dead since last September and CSUB fans of here have been scarce most of this season. Same goes for UMKC. They're not part of the WAC starting July 1 this summer.

CSUB was moved here.

UMKC was moved here.

RE: Bakersfield & UMKC
It will be interesting to watch from afar how well CSUB and UMKC will do in basketball in their respective new conferences. It will give the WAC a gauge on it own health (strength) if both schools do better in the standings there than in this conference. I am rooting for CSUB and UMKC to do well in the Big West and Summit. We will see if Barnes can respark the Runners; as he looks like he is on his final days as a head coach. And, if Donlon will prove to be the coach that finally turn the Roos around; a coaching hire too late to benefit the WAC. Both fans bases should be happier being in conferences with a better regional fits.

https://www.bakersfield.com/sports/colle...a4015.html

Though they'll move away from annual matchups with New Mexico State, which seemed poised for an eighth NCAA Tournament bid in nine years after a 16-0 WAC finish this season, things don't get easier for CSUB in the Big West.

The WAC was ranked 25th (.3426) out of 32 conferences this season. The Big West was 20th (.3667).

CSUB, which finished eighth in the WAC, had a NET ranking of 283, which would have also ranked eighth in the 10-team Big West.

I don't think CSUB fans will be happier. They'll just say "we left NMSU and GCU for this?" They reduced their travel expenses, but might pay a heavy price elsewhere in doing so.

If CSUB hoops fails to improve - Hawaii has shown it's not that easy - the Birds will sink to the bottom and fan apathy will set in quickly.

Also PistolPete, I get the sense Boise's contract drama with the MWC is not over and if hard feelings can't be resolved Boise will find themselves back in the Big West with their new Roadrunner friends.

This is a quote from a year ago from Big West Commissioner Dennis Farrell: "We're not in a rush to go to 12 members. We've had division alignments before, and they can lead to some polarization among members. There are really two reasons conferences expand -- for survival or opportunity. Fortunately, we are in a position that we're going to be able to look at any future candidates for membership and ask, 'Does this present an opportunity for us to get better?' "

Does Boise State really present an opportunity to get better?

Thank you mods for getting rid of CSUB and UMKC on this board. Both teams will still suck in their new conferences. More excited about Dixie State and Tarleton State being in the WAC then CSUB and UMKC. I would like to see another California team join. Sucks that Metro State didn't join. Would have liked to have seen a team from Colorado in the WAC. Starting to look geographically like the old WAC now.

RE: Bakersfield & UMKC
I'm more intrigued to see what coaches like Billy Gillispie and Jon Judkins can do in the WAC with upstart programs than watching "average" coaches like Rod Barnes and Billy Donlon continually lead subpar programs.

Career Records
Rod Barnes 334-330 (0.503) at Ole Miss, Georgia State, and Cal State Bakersfield
Billy Donlon 125-108 (0.538) at Wright State and UM Kansas City
Billy Gillispie 251-170 (0.596) at UTEP, Texas A&M, Kentucky, Texas Tech, Ranger JC, and Tarleton State.
Jon Judkins 551-252 (0.686) at Snow College and Dixie State

Rick Croy - California Baptist
Lance Irvin - Chicago State
Jon Judkins - Dixie State
Bryce Drew - Grand Canyon
Chris Jans - New Mexico State
Jim Hayford - Seattle University
Billy Gillispie - Tarleton State
Lew Hill - UT Rio Grande Valley
Mark Madsen - Utah Valley

Not a bad group of WAC coaches.

Excellent point. There are some very good coaches in this group.

Gillispie and Drew, returning to the non power coaching ranks might re-energize them.

Good point. They’ve made their money with bigger teams, time to build the rest of their careers.

Wow... my first post in.... quite a while. I see some new faces here along with many "old" fellow posters I still consider WAC compatriots.

Yes, it will be interesting to see the 'Runners in action in our new conference... WHENEVER that will occur.
Personally, I think we've gone as far as we can with Barnes, and it may be interesting to see how he does in the BW, but more so, how long the school is willing to keep (current) mediocrity under him, should it continue.

Personally, I follow baseball much more closely (than basketball), and am both interested (recruiting changes) and concerned (facility improvements) with that angle.

Sitting on a toilet somewhere and interacting with you.
