Toledo Offers Coppin State Big Man Transfer
Toledo has offered Coppin State Transfer 7-1, 245 lb Center Brendan Medley Bacon who has 2 years eligibility after sitting out next season. He was named Third Team All MEAC this past season after averaging 7.5 points per game & 8.9 rebounds per game and 66 total blocks & 55 total assists for the season. He upped his averages to 10.8ppg and 12.5 rebounds in league games. He finished with 8 Double Doubles including a 24 rebound game against Morgan State which was the second most in a NCAA game this past season. Toledo is the first and only school to have offered Medley-Bacon at this time, but he has received interest from VCU, St. Louis, Maryland, Rhode Island, Cincinnati, Syracuse, Illinois State and EMU.

Coach K likes his big guys to do more than stand around and look tall. UToledo would be a good place for the guy to develop, pick up some ball handling and outside shooting skills. Get those assists up.

RE: Toledo Offers Coppin State Big Man Transfer
From Prep Hoops
Anthony D’Avanzo - This skilled power forward from Lewis was a prospect we were pretty on in his high school days at Niles Notre Dame and with Chicago Lockdown. He produced in a major way this past year as a junior averaging 15.8 points and 8.4 rebounds while shooting 48% from the field and 40% from three in 33 minutes a game at the D2 level. That has resulted in quite a few colleges showing interest in his services. He says the schools involved are Toledo, Southern Illinois, DePaul, Northern Illinois, Central Michigan, Wyoming, UW-Milwaukee, Drake, Missouri State, and William & Mary. He is probably going to cut it down to five or so in the next week.
Zion Griffin - Griffin was the #3 overall prospect in the PHI 2018 high school class. Great combination of power, strength, and elite athleticism. He committed to Iowa State out of high school and after his sophomore year decided to transfer. On Friday night he told PHI he has narrowed his list of suitors to Grand Canyon, Ball State, Wyoming, UIC, Buffalo, and Toledo.
Mo Njie - Centerville- One of the most sought after names in Dayton, Njie is the best true center in the Dayton area in the 2020 class. Defensively, he is a nightmare with his long arms, perfectly timed jumps and aggressiveness. Offensively there are concerns with his ability to maintain the basketball in the paint and his footwork on post moves. While he is 6’9 and usually the tallest player on the floor when he played high school ball, he will not always be the biggest guy when it comes to college basketball. Holding offers from schools including Xavier, Providence and Toledo among others, I think Mo will excel at a D1 low-major school and will benefit the most at a MAC school like Toledo.

I don't know offhand about D'Avanzo's eligibility but add LeHigh F James Karnik to the list - TK is busy trolling for transfers!

James Karnik is a 6-9 Junior Center with 2 years eligibility remaining after sitting out next season. He was a High School Teammate of KeShaun Saunders at Orangeville Prep in Brampton, Ontario. He averaged 12 points & 7 rebounds per game this past season. Besides Toledo, some of the other schools who have shown interest include Arkansas, Oregon St, Hawaii and Ball St.

He would only have 1 year left. He has played the last 3 seasons at Lehigh.

and gotten significantly better each year.
he and the coppin state kid's career paths have a lot in common. i think the staff is being real smart in recruiting the top D2 transfers. that's overlooked territory. and toledo's program and facilities are better than most of the other options for D2 transfer recruits.
also, berry is showing up now on verbal commits as a rocket, so that news has multiple sources. gonna be fun watching those 4 compete in practice for maybe 2 spots in the rotation.
