Always interesting reading about this. Thanks. One possible edit: you write that W&M played in the Dixie Bowl in '48 and '49. However, and I'm going entirely from memory here because I am too lazy to look it up, I think the second of those games was called the Delta Bowl.

Indeed, in Memphis. We were ranked #17, at the time.
