Hope nothing is set in stone with ETSU, Forbes possibly could leave for Wake Forest.

RE: 2020-21 Men's Basketball Schedule (in progress)
2020-21 Scheduling Options:
Quote:As some conferences in college basketball move toward a 20-game league slate, the NCAA's Division I Council passed new scheduling criteria on Friday that is "intended to improve" the environment of early-season, multiple-team events in men's basketball by restricting their total number of games to allow schools continued flexibility in non-conference scheduling.
If the legislation passes a review from the NCAA Board of Directors next week, it will go into effect for the 2020-21 season. Teams would have the following scheduling options under the new rule:
• Playing up to 28 regular-season games and participating in one multiple-team event that includes up to three games.
• Playing 29 regular-season games and a multiple-team event that includes up to two games.
• Playing 29 regular-season games and not participating in a multiple-team event.
The legislation will require that multiple-team events are sponsored by the NCAA, a member conference or the NABC and limit schools to participating in the same event only once in any four-year period.
It will also require that:
all teams participating in a multiple-team event play the same number of games
• three-game events conclude within 10 days
• two-game events conclude within five days
• non-Division I items cannot participate unless they are serving as the event hosts
The legislation passed after "thorough discussion by the membership," according to an NCAA announcement. The announcement said the new measures is intended to "eliminate tack-on games that are not considered to be a legitimate part of an event," according to an NCAA announcement.
"The new legislation also gives teams increased control and flexibility over scheduling when, where and who to play in an additional one or two regular-season games," the announcement said.

We’ve played several of those in recent years, correct? That’s what I’m assuming they are referring to.

That’s what the Duquesne and AAMU match up was last year in St. Petersburg. AAMU, the tack-on game. May have been Alabama State.

Not really. That was a simple two game neutral site set up against Alabama State and Duquesne and was not an exempted event. Alabama A&M was a simple buy game at home. This is like last season's Big Blue Showcase. Under the new rules, the home game against Utah Valley would not have been allowed.
In 2018-19 the home game against West Alabama was a game associated the Advocare Invitational in Orlando and would not be allowed under the new rules.

RE: 2020-21 Men's Basketball Schedule (in progress) - Updated 5/6/2020
Added our conference opponents.
The pod bonus play system experiment is over. Reportedly C-USA is moving forward with an 18 game schedule (Although there is still the possibility of a 16 game conference schedule). Under the 18 game plan, each team will maintain its travel partner (MTSU) and play the next 4 closest teams home and away (La Tech, Marshall, Southern Miss & WKU). Teams will play the other 8 conference members once.

Says alot about how spread out the conference is when WKU and Marshall are among our 4 closest opponents. Maybe they should also consider how easy or difficult it is to get to some schools. Marshall, from what I understand, is not an easy trip(plane followed by bus ride)...

I wish they would’ve given the pods a couple more years. If we wound up with a strong top 3-4 I still think the pods could have been very beneficial.

Well technically Charlotte is closer than Marshall, but since they want to maintain travel partners and the Thursday/Saturday schedule setup. We get Marshall who is partnered WKU.

@Marshall & WKU would be a fun weekend for me, as long as it's not in January.

Has anyone heard anything about Iowa? I swear I heard AK say he had an email from Iowa in his inbox on our Zoom call last week. I'm assuming it's at Iowa but that's still an exciting game, they should have the best player next season.

This is NOT the season i want to play Iowa
I'd pay good money for a game at Iowa State, Drake or even Northern Iowa

If we’re going to play schools in the MEAC/SWAC, they’re the type of team I want to play. They've actually made the tournament 3 years in a row, probably would’ve been 4, had this year’s not been cancelled. I’m ok with that game.

NCC ain’t all that bad or maybe I’m thinking of A&T
The MEAC is on its way to folding. Bethune Cookman is making the move to the SWAC.

It's not so much Marshall being close, but Marshall being WKU's travel partner.
Strictly speaking, outside of MTSU (travel partner), our 4 closest conference mates are WKU, Southern Miss, La Tech and Charlotte in that order. The problem are the Florida twins. They are travel partners and NO ONE is close to them. So, to give them their 4, it skews others.
Also, WKU just released and the schedule above has been updated.
