Louisiana back in the top 25 after several ranked teams lost. If they beat Coastal Carolina, we have a chance to host a ranked team. When's the last time that happened? And when is the last time we beat a ranked team.

A quick perusal of the interwebs, looks like Marshall in 2017 was the last ranked team we hosted. And also the last time we lost at home. Most recent win against a ranked team I saw was So Miss in 2011.

Was that Marshall game in 2014? We haven’t lost at home since The

Old USAToday article says Marshall was #18. Yes, in 2014. JH fumbled in our end zone for a Marshall go ahead TD as we were pinned deep, iirc.

Birmingham could use some excitement. Hope we and ULaLa are ranked going into that game. I usually jinx that type of match up by stating that request.

Yes. I mistyped. Marshall was 2014.

It was Cody Clements who fumbled in the end zone, leading to the go-ahead score. UAB drove back down the field but Jordan Howard was tackled for a loss on 4th-and-short at the Marshall 10-yard line. Heartbreaking loss.

On our end, I'm not sure a win over WKU (4-1) would have us ranked going into the Louisiana game. If Louisiana keeps winning they should remain ranked though. Would be nice to have the change to knock off a ranked team at home. If we can beat WKU and a ranked Louisiana team, we may crack the top 25.

WKU will be the 2nd best team we’ve played this season, so let’s not count that W quite yet.

Helton will throw everything but the kitchen sink at us. Think Piggy T is their QB this year. You know Helton would love to break our home streak. Can’t afford 4-5 turnovers against them, again.

Some voters are not including teams which have not played yet. That might be an explanation.

True. 9 voters aren't voting for anyone that hasn't played yet. A 10th didn't vote Oregon in their top 25. And not one single voter voted for a Mountain West team (Boise State) that hasn't played. The exception being Air Force (with 1 game under their belt).

Piggy has a lot of talent, but her never could make it work at Maryland. Kept getting hurt. As much as he got banged up I'm not sure I would want to hitch my program to him

Western brought in a P5 transfer Qb last year and beat us with him. If it happens again, it's gonna put a negative spotlight on the handling of the position at UAB the last few seasons. We hitched this program to a much injured QB in TJIII and haven't signed a player there in 2 classes. Pretty obvious Hopkins isn't the answer so now we are left with only Lucero. If he gets banged up, we are in deep ****.

My son ran up against him during the playoffs their senior year. What impressed me in that game were the good receivers that could catch anything near them. They made Piggy look good, at least in that game. They bailed him out quite a few times.

Nico Collins ended up playing for Michigan. Last I heard he was opting out this year.
