Mount Rushmore
One of the little games folks are playing during The Current Difficulty is constructing Mount Rushmore. So let's do it. If you had to put four faces on the Mount Rushmore of Little Rock men's basketball, who would it be and why? (And please, not just because someone was your favorite, but because of his importance to the program.)

Derek Fisher - Top 10 in numerous career categories, NBA career, Local product, Fisher Court, etc, etc, etc,.............

James Scott- All time leading scorer, played in 2 NCAA and 2 NITS, Top 10 in numerous other career lists

Myron Jackson- former all time leading scorer, First NCAA team, first NCAA victory, 4 year player, Brief NBA Career, Not on the first D1 UALR teams but in the era,

Heres where it gets tough between several worthy candidates in my mind.......but I will go:
Mike Newell- polarizing figure but from 85-90 absolutely dominated the conference and took us to post season every year. Brought interest, and a somewhat recognizable national profile to our program. To this day I still watch the Notre Dame game to make sure we won. My first unforgettable Trojan moment.

HM- Josh Hagins, Alan Barksdale, Jimmy Lampley,

My picks are:

Coach Mike Newell- for obvious reasons of his team’s unmatched success which literally put our program on the map.

AD Mike Hamrick- for having the savvy and connections to get our program admitted to the Sun Belt Conference.

Player Derek Fisher- not only the best player from our program while a student, but his ongoing recognition for an outstanding NBA career, and being a continuing ambassador for the Trojans

AD Chase Conque- for his vision for the program, a breath of fresh air after the nightmare of Peterson, giving us the longtime desired moniker of Little Rock, and for hiring Chris Beard who gave our program the most outstanding year in its history.

HM- numerous memorable players, and Coach Porter Moser.

RE: Mount Rushmore
OK, I asked the question, so I guess I ought to give an answer.
(not necessarily in any order)

Fish. He put us on the national scene.
Larry Johnson. His numbers are just jaw-dropping.
Herman Bogans. Coached us to 21-10 in 1943. It was 40 years before we won 20 games again.
The 4th one is tough. I am going to go with Hagins. He made the most important shot in program history.

I like KARL’s and PTJR’s picks. Players and administrators both.

How do you leave out your all-time leading scorer, James Scott?

I never was as high on James as many others. Maybe I under- appreciated Him. What was his shooting percentage? He often frustrated me. More importantly, whom on my list would you remove?

If this list was of the best players in the history of the program, I think your list is a very solid one. However, as far as the long term impact on the overall program, I can only go along with Fisher. The rest, although great players, only really impacted the years they played. On the other hand, the five year post season run that Newell engineered, and some of the actions taken by AD’s, have had far more long term impacts on the program.

RE: Mount Rushmore
Well, let's do a Mount Rushmore with five faces, only players, one from each position.
