What will be really interesting is what happens when Kathy retires.

There is a WMU ( & now State of Michigan) hiring freeze. Covid19 has changed the world

I know.

I honestly don't think the salary would have been different under this president if we weren't in a crisis.

Ding ding ding we have a winner. Corona is now the easy excuse for the wmu political machine. Things were heading downhill way before the virus in both the athletic department and university in general.

KB should have kept Bates at his current $110,000 salary. He accepted the job before they even talked salary, as he was desperate.

I don't believe we would've insulted Saddi by offering him a 33% pay cut to leave UM. His offer package was created before things really hit the fan across the country.

The Bates promotion and salary downgrade is debatable. It's fair to suggest we should've stuck around Hawk's salary for the sake of the program's health. However I doubt the $220K figure was ever the original plan.

He accepted the job because Montgomery froze the base at just over $200K. The whole college basketball coaches association knew this. That's why the interviews stopped when Saddi walked. Some of you guys must not know CBB coaches have agents that share salary info nationwide on a daily basis between other agents and their clients. That is what they are paid to do. Hawkins agent represents some of the best Top 25 programs in the country. A 15 year assistant taking his bosses job without the school getting public approval of the previous head coach is almost unheard of. This story isn't over, far from over.

So if the story isn’t over, what is next? An underperforming coach was fired and replaced. I don’t see what’s left.
