There once was a woman
A strange kind of woman
The kind that gets written down in history
Her name was Nancy
Her face was nothing fancy
She left a trail of happiness and misery

The truth ain't in that stretched skin pulled over that skull with a pickled brain. How do we know her chin dimple isn't her navel? In my many years I've never witnessed such a pathetic bunch of trash in Congress, and that goes for both sides of the aisle. It's crooks vs do-nothings and both sides are paid by the same corporations and switch roles between social justice and pro-military depending upon what the corporate needs are. Need your oil protected and it's pro military. Need you Chinese communist buds for slave wage production and it's social justice here to cover their stink and complicity over there. Congress is just business as usual. And anti-Putin drives up oil and gas not only here but Europe.

Love your families, help your neighbors, get active politically in your city and county and you've done about all you can, and you can have a good life until the Freak show in DC finally permits enough greed and corruption to fail. Then be mentally alert and morally fit as the old scouts would say and help put it back together. When evil gets that bad it always destroys itself. Fighting it accomplishes only your injury, but when it shatters picking up the pieces is the real business of decent people.

I'm just astounded how stupid so many of those people in Congress are. I could go to the poorest neighborhood in Atlanta and at least pick a group with more common sense.

It hasn't been a "government of the people, by the people, for the people" in a long, long time. It is essentially elitists backed by power and money interests. A lot of what they say and do is window dressing for the masses. I've always thought a close parallel to modern government is the world that some academicians live in. You can become out of touch to reality when you eat, live, and breathe theory from an ivory tower and preach to a captive audience that is all ears. We need more "common sense/experience" men and women to run for elected positions - see truck driver Ed Durr who won a State Senate seat in New Jersey knocking off the 20 year incumbent.

100% agree, IMO the only way to truly drain the swamp is term limits for congress. I believe there is direct linear correlation between time in office and level of corruption.

I would go for a prohibition on attorneys being eligible to run for the house. The founding fathers intended the House to be occupied by business people. Lawyers should be able to run for the Senate. The house was for budget and spending as much as law. A clique of attorneys is no appropriate for that function and should never have been allowed to control both houses of law making. It's why so many laws require us to have to engage lawyers.

“I would rather be governed by the first 2000 people in the Manhattan phone book than the entire faculty of Harvard.” - William F. Buckley Jr.

I think this is appropriate in this discussion. 04-bow

But, I would change that to a small to medium sized city in the heartland. Manhattan folks and New Yorkers in general show really poor judgement.

If you just wanna escape for a few minutes into something beautiful :

I've seen the mystics play there
Once or twice but I knew they had a reason
Enchantment plays it's cards all right
Hand in hand with the workings of the seasons

Legends can be now and forever
Teaching us to love for goodness sake
Legends can be now and forever
Loved by the sun, loved by the sun
Loved

RE: if you had to cherry pick a song to describe _______
everyday in congress...

Quote:Empty and sweating
Head lying in your hands
Shaking in the corner
Done too much alcohol
Gotta get away from it all

'Cause it feels my blood is freezing
My self insanity has taken its toll
Frustration has taken its control

Now I'm far from home
Spending time alone
It's time to set my demons free, yeah
Been put to the test
My mind needs to rest
I'm on a psycho holiday

Shot down on sight
You are the target of attention
One woman here, another there
You can't please all the people all the time
Can't tell the strangers
From the friends you know
Frustration has taken its control

Now you're far from home
Spending time alone
It's time to set your demons free, yeah
Been put through the test
Your mind needs to rest
You're on a psycho holiday

I'm strapped in for life
Is this where I live
Or where I die
You want my money
You take my space
My mind is telling me
To leave this place

My self insanity has taken its toll
Frustration has taken its control

Now I'm far from home
Spending time alone
It's time to set my demons free, yeah
Been put to the test
My mind needs to rest
I'm on a psycho holiday

Now I'm far from home
Spending time alone
It's time to set my demons free
Been put to the test
My mind needs to rest
I'm on a psycho holiday

Now I'm far from home
Spending time alone
It's time to set my demons free, free
Been put to the test
My mind needs to rest
I'm on a psycho holiday, oh
