What Can Be Done?
What can be done to turn this basketball program around? The coaching doesn’t seem to matter. Is success even possible with the financial restraints?

RE: What Can Be Done?
I know it’s been an underwhelming first couple of years for both coaches; however, I am hopeful year three will show signs of improvement in men’s basketball (but only 4-5 D1 wins), and the women’s team should make significant strides. I really like one of their freshman— Carstens. She’s a heck of a shooter, and her scoring ability will only improve over time. This could change depending on how many enter the transfer portal. The men’s team already lost a freshman starter, unfortunately.
Also, the new administration seem to be actively improving the athletic department which should trickle down to the various programs as well. With the proper support, I do feel success is possible.. but those said financial restraints would need to be steadily lifted over time. The new president and leaders in the athletic department seem to be the right folks in charge.

Thanks for the thoughts. How is enrollment trending?

Tracy Dildy went 8-8 Year 1 in the WAC. I still think he was the perfect coach for Chicago St. The school just needs to get healthy itself. Until then, it won’t matter who’s coaching. COVID-19 could throw a wrench into things.

Has dropping down to D2 been discussed? It might be a good fit financially.
