Well the first round is in the books.

#8 Marshall over #9 Southern Miss 71-67. Will now face Rice
#12 La Tech with an upset over #5 UAB 66-63. Will now face Middle Tennesse St
#6 Charlotte over #11 North Texas 71-67 Will now face WKU
and #7 UTEP over #10 FAU 95-67.

So ODU will face #7 UTEP at 2 pm (3 pm EST I think)

Last time, ODU won 77-69 at UTEP. It was a complete team win, as the game was close throughout. Morris and Young scored 23 point each to lead the way for ODU.

For ODU, we have racked up the awards this offseason.
All Conference USA First Round
Taylor Edwards, SR

All Conference USA Second Round
Amari Young, So
Ajah Wayne, So

All Defensive Team
Amari Young, So

Co-Sixth Man Player of the Year
Aziah Hudson, So

Coach of the Year
Nikki McCray

Great awards. Although Victoria Morris who averaged 11.9 ppg (2nd highest on the team) is probably thinking, what about me?

The wins at this point mean everything. Go Monarchs.

UTEP ranks tied for 3rd in conference only offense, averaging 71.0 ppg Defensively they are 10th, averaging 65.3 ppg.

So I guess there's a time and place for everything... when am I allowed to express my disappointment and sadness for our women's team, who battled to be the 2 seed, only for the tournament to get cancelled and have no chance at battling for the championship? The champion will default to the 1 seeds.

Hope everyone is safe, but I feel bad for our ladies and the coaching staff...

There's a pretty good chance the women's NCAAs won't be happening as schools and conferences are suspending all athletics indefinitely and, in some cases, for the rest of the semester.

I would think all sports are at risk. Hard to believe how close this team came to being the #1 seed.

I saw this thought on another college basketball site

What do you think of this

Some NCAA coaches believe this season’s seniors should be given another year of eligibility because of the tournament cancellation. What do people think about it? If seniors had another year of eligibility and chose to play, what would happen to the incoming freshmen? How could rosters accommodate both seniors and freshmen?

RE: WBB Tournament Thread
It's a sad ending. In a span of 24 hours, it seems like the sports world has come to an end. Considering some conferences have already had their conference tournaments played, it wouldn't be fair to keep a senior for a full year just because they didn't get to play in a handful of games. (knowing any game could be their last)

It would be a better argument I think if this happened in the middle of the season rather than after the regular season has finished. Then I think you would have more coaches on board.

I feel for Taylor Edwards. The year ODU announced that they were leaving the CAA and they were punished by not being eligible to play in the tournament...the seniors had time to process it. For Taylor, this wasn't even a thought in anyone's mind a week ago....

We had a great season overall. Fan excitement should be high for next year.
Be safe Monarch Nation.

I, for sure, hope that ODU puts the kind of investment into keeping coach around that she deserves.
