College football rankings: Updated preseason top 25 for 2020
Bill Bender of Sporting News doesn't rank the Memphis Tigers, but he has UCF and Cincinnati in the top 25. With what is returning to the Tigers, they at least should get a preseason spot.

Go figure?

Those two Houston, SMU, and UofM should all be ranked at some point. Navy, Tulane, Temple, and USF are coming. Don't sleep on Tulsa, and East Carolina, When a team wins 11 games like we did last year IN THIS LEAGUE that team is a top 10 team. Until there is a playoff the game will always be rigged. When every team has a chance more teams will earn one. That is what the bottom half of the P5 are really worried about.

I feel like the bottom of the league is improving and the league will be wide open. Tulsa as I recall was a young team last year and lost several close games to ranked teams. I expect them to be tough along with several others. I suspect the top few teams may have a few more league losses this year. I just hope the media doesn't discredit and penalize the league in the polls if the league is overall stronger. As always...the AAC must win the out of league games.

Other polls will have us in the Top 25. I think we beat Ark State at home but...that won't mean much for us in the rankings. But...we should beat an unsuspecting PURDUE in Lafayette and that moves us to the Top 25 We should win the first 4 games then....off to Dallas to play SMU. That will be a tough game. SMU has done a great job at recruiting. It is hard to beat getting a Masters Degree from SMU for playing that 5th year and Dallas area players wanting to come back home to play in front of friends and family. Sonny Dykes has done a great job getting transfers and former TEXAS LONGHORN and ARLINGTON LAMAR QB Shane Buechele is back for another shot at the TIGERS. I see that is our most critical game. We beat SMU last year on ABC in Memphis and I am sure that game is one those SMU players will never forget

Houston schedule:
@Washington State
@Memphis
@BYU
@Navy
UCF
@Cincinnati
@SMU
Most likely 6 losses right there.

Not sure why we wouldn't sleep on ECU. They were 4-8 last year but come on.

I have seen Cincinnati on many rankings. Also have read several articles that "assume" they will be the AAC champ.They will be good but it seems to me that the AAC is a hard league to figure just yet. There is going to be some real battles in this conference.

Seeing we are the defending champs bringing most everything back, I pick Memphis to win again.
